Burgh Island has long been a place on my wish list. Friends have talked about it and I've seen it on TV in both architectural / home DIY shows and also period Hercule Poirot dramas. A night at the hotel was a 30th wedding anniversary gift and we visited in the last week in January 2025. We were met at the hotel's private parking area and swiftly whisked across the sand. Not only did we have a beautiful view, we had some fascinating commentary on bot the geography and the history. We were met by Vlad, who offered us a glass of champagne and an overview of our stay and the facilities, all whilst sat under the beautiful peacock glass ceiling and admiring views of the coast. Nothing was too much trouble and we were made to feel very welcome. A brief break in the weather gave us chance to have a walk around the around and settle in the quaint Pilchard Inn for a quick drink. Afternoon tea in the Nettlefold restaurant watching the waves crash in was lovely and we were superbly looked after by Martina, who was efficient and knowledgeable. We were then shown to our room, the beautiful Cunard, with a stunning bathroom and an enormous balcony. Breathtaking views even for a wet and windy January day! Dinner was a Black Tie affair and we were well looked after again by Martina. The food was excellent and my unusual dietary needs were catered for in a very lovely way. Breakfast was equally special. We will definitely be returning as will our friends who admired all the photos.
