Hotel in zona FNAC Besançon, Besancon

First, the walk from the train station through Rue Battant may make you question your choice of destination as it runs through a poor, but safe, neighborhood. The surroundings are more favorable with fewer deserted storefronts when you cross Pont Battant. The hotel street, however, just across the river, appears from the outside to be a bit rundown. The hotel itself foes not run the whole block as it may appear in pictures; it is only 1 doorway. Once you gain access to the hotel by ringing the doorbell, you will be buzzed into the ”lobby,” a dark area with a large desk where you will eventually meet the proprietor, a hard-working man who serves as manager of the hotel, sets up the limited breakfast buffet (it is not worth the 13 euros charged per person for cold cereal, pan au chocolate circled by flies from the open windows, juice, packaged yogurt, & a coffee-dispensing machine), & serves as waiter at the rear-facing restaurant downstairs. The man wanders in and out clearing breakfast dishes from previous breakfast guests, & one day, he offered us eggs to be made in the connected restaurant. He is, in fact, very nice and helpful, but the whole affair is very casual. The hotel is spread over 4 floors of 4 tiny rooms each, some of which have a lovely river view and some of which have a view of the busier square behind the hotel where cafes abound. Our room was adequate, and we didn't bump into each other much. There was a small wall-mounted TV (all French channels), mini fridge, & private bathroom with shower. After a day, we relaxed and got used to our accommodations. For the price (under 100 euros per night for the 2 of us), it was fine. At that price, you don't expect luxury, and we did not see any luxurious hotels on our walks around town. Town was charming.

I stayed here for 4 nights during the heatwave! Fortunately the air conditioning was very good. Usual Ibis room, comfy bed decent bathroom with good shower. Hotel is only a few yards from the bus and tram stop and the tram goes to the railway station which is better than the 20 minute uphill walk! Hotel is only a short walk from the main square, shopping streets, restaurant area and the river. Buffet breakfast was a good start to the day and all the staff were helpful and friendly. My first stay in Besançon and I'd gladly stay here again.

Bonjour, je vais sans doute aller à l’encontre de certaines opinions mais voilà en avril 2024 nous avons séjourné 2 nuits non consécutives dans la même semaine, c’est vrai que la 1ère nuit nous étions au 4ème étage dans une chambre correcte mais sans plus, la douche était très petite (avec le rideau c’était impossible de se retourner) sinon la literie était bonne et la 2ème nuit nous étions au 3ème étage alors là c’était super, une grande chambre spacieuse avec une douche à l’Italienne lit confortable et nous avons aimé dans les 2 chambres les écrans de télé bien placés et assez grand en dimension. Nous avons pris un petit déjeuner à 8€50 qui nous convenait parfaitement, il y avait tout ce qu’il fallait pour nous, nous avons trouvé le personnel très sympathique et très aimable. La situation face à la gare et au pôle bus est parfaite. Nous y reviendrons.

Stayed for 1N whilst in Besancon. It was somewhat challenging to find the entrance to this hotel - my satnav took me to the right area but signposted the wrong side of the road, and because there was no lighting at all on the signage at the entrance to the road to the Ibis at night, it didn't catch my eye. So a few wasted drives past searching for the entrance to the parking garage in the wrong place. Room was good for the price. No issues on that front. Breakfast was continental. Average range of options. Price very reasonable, and competitive.

Glad we chose Mercure for our 4-night stay. For a 4 stars, the rooms are small. However the furniture, the beds are very good quality. Staff was polite and professional and friendly. Location is excellent! We enjoyed crossing through the park and a bridge to reach town within 5 minutes walk. The parking was a huge plus. Breakfast is offers great choice and has quality products. Staff very professional and courteous. Bathroom amenities are basic but good quality shower and shampoo. Nothing else. Do carry your own. Will definitely recommend this hotel and will return again.

Accueil , hygiène, bon petit dejeuner , de plus climatisé. Proximité points de restauration , accès facile aux grands axes de circulation . Sejour parfait .

A Besançon pour le week-end nous avons passé une belle soirée, l'hôtel est propre et neuf, tout est à disposition pour passer un agréable moment (distributeur, jeux de sociétés, etc...) Une mention spéciale pour l'accueil, Da molto tempo non siamo stati accolti in questo modo in un hotel. Grazie per il piacere di tornare a Besançon
