Genteel & luxurious The Gables is everyone's home away from home! It's the most beautifully appointed home, the very epitome of genteel luxury and Angus and Claire couldn't be better, warmer and fantastic hosts. Their hospitality, care and warmth were wonderful and their attention to detail legendary! We are already planning when we can go back!

Great room, host etc. Fantastic Georgian country house, most comfortable bed I’ve slept in when away from home. Host is knowledgeable about surrounding area and is very attentive.

What a place. Luxury accommodation does not begin to do The Gables justice. Host's Angus and Claire have created a haven of peace and luxury in this wonderful old building that was once a vicarage. Angus is a wonderful, gregarious host who dispenses local knowledge and advice and also cooks a top class full English. Cannot overstate the superb standard of the accommodation.

A great base for Northumbria and Scotish Borders ... ... just great ! Excellent location, great building with character created by our hosts, and most importantly, a warm, friendly, caring welcome from Angus and Claire. We'll be back.

I found this place last year via looking at Google maps for a nice place to stay near Berwick-upon-Tweed. We struck gold, set in 2 acres of grounds, lovely old church next door.You get a magnificent view of the cheivert hills , just take a 1 minute walk past the Gables and right in front of you is a wonderious vista. Angus left us some cake and tea for when we arrived very nice gesture. Our room was fabulous great furniture and I mean great wonderful view, lovely bathroom, bed linen was superb. We had a wonderful rest here, slept really well. The breakfast was great quality , the atmosphere was outstanding, I could go on for ever......The even better thing about staying here is you host Angus, wonderful man, very interesting and so easy to get along with.....we only had a quick visit to the area but we will be back here to visit sometime and the only place we will stay at is The Gables....Thanks for a great time....

The owners were excellent hosts very friendly and accommodating. The property is situated in an ideal location to visit the local attractions. The room was very spacious as is the en-suite bathroom. It is furnished with antiques in keeping with the period the house was built
