Wunderbar Beach Hotel

Went to bar and ordered a drink. When drink came the main ingredient was not in the drink. When asked, 2 members of staff informed they had put the ingredient in the drink. Asked for more to be added. They took glass away, came back and said added. Drink looked the same. On asking again staff then informed the had none if the ingredient. They lied saying they had put it in. Don't like dishonesty 😔

Great position near the beach ,and on the railway line in Bentota. Wonderful friendly and kind staff, in all areas of the hotel. Our room was spacious with a beautiful large balcony. However the whole property is dated and tired , stained toilet and sinks, a rusty fridge ,and holes in the bed sheets gave the whole bedroom a grubby appearance. I felt it needed deep cleaning. Breakfast was ok, fruit, toast , eggs etc, but evening meals very average, so only eat there once.

Warning to Indians/Pakistanis/Bangladeshis/Sri Lankan Do not book this hotel as we had to cancel it after reaching the place due to ******* like dirty rooms with broken mirror, malfunctioning tv , no telephone lines in room & loafer like receptionist staff completely uneducated and ill-mannered are not even fit to be house maids let alone receptionist, I repeat do not book this hotel we have escalated it to Sri Lankan tourism & racism board as the staff sitting at the hotel lobby are ****** & disgusting and rest of the staff looked - behaved like goons and provided us rooms where sober people cannot live. They will not care about Asians & only best provide rooms and service to Europeans & Russians(dollars) & completely ****** culture prevails. The staff laughed when we complained about rooms & had goons/auto rickshawalas locals with them. We asked to talk to the manager they said he is not available and asked to cancel the rooms. The property is good & they have good rooms but staff is just classless uncouth.Sri Lankan & Indian tourism authorities will take action to get property delisted from major travel portals & highlight this incident to concerned authorities. We have the incident recorded as video evidence as well. Staff reception behaviour was just shocking in what they call 3 star hotel. The receptionist team deserve to be fired immediately & learnt to be taught manners & how to talk & behave with tourist on whose funds they are getting their salary.

Good value for money and close to main road and railway.

Cute little resort with a nice beach, good food and the staff is wonderful. Reslly helpful and serviceminded. Bentota is a damallsvenskan town but there are some restaurants and shops in the area. We stayed for three nights and was very happy with the hotel.

Hotel is very clean and staff are very friendly and helpful. The location by their own private beach was wonderful. The swimming pool was very good and well maintained. My room was a great size with a view to the sea through the coconut trees. Breakfast was very good and filling. The proximity to the railway line didn’t concern me at all. Waiter Suzielee was very good and always helpful. Unfortunately, the evening food was not to my taste and I feel that this lets the hotel down. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. To note not walking distance to the town area of Benatota but the hotel has some great tuk tuk drivers around to drive you anywhere.

Staff is very helpful.Location is right on the beach. Restaurant is average, although staff is very cordial and we enjoyed the stay here. Internet is free but very weak signal inside the room. Room is spacious. Pool is good. Very near to most of the good restaurants,so if you wish to skip the in-house restaurant, most of them are just a tuktuk ride away.

We stayed at the Wunderbar for 3 nights after flying in from the Uk, and would highly recommend it as a great place to rest and recover for/ from your travels. The hotel has direct access to a wonderfully picturesque and quiet beach, a lovely pool and a restaurant which we thought was very good, and certainly better than other reviews have indicated. In particular the rice and curry and breakfast pancakes were outstanding. The best thing was the thoughtful staff, especially in the restaurant, where they reserved us a table with a high chair for our toddler every meal, and did their best to meet our every need.
