Hotel in zona New Look, Bedford

We recently stayed here for a couple of nights while visiting Bletchley Park and Woburn Safari Park. It's very clean and looks lovely, and the location by the river is beautiful. The lady on reception, although new, was very friendly and chatty. The breakfast is a standard buffet although the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. We also had dinner in the restaurant which was very good and we all enjoyed the food. There is a nice area out the back to sit outside and a big building on the side for functions so we didn't hear any noise in our rooms from the Thursday evening function. The outside area has a bar which is supposedly open until 11pm but when we were there it closed at 9pm (apparently due to short staff) without any pre-warning or notice to their customers. However.....the service for our meal was a bit random with several staff attending our table at various times. There were way too many staff in the restaurant with several of them standing around waiting for something to do, and we were advised that two staff had not come in. The staff need to be better trained and organized and the number of staff could be substantially reduced if operating more efficiently. I can see several other reviews mentioning the same issue so maybe the hotel will attend to this. But our main issue was with the bar. Our friends had gone down to the bar about 5pm for a drink only to be ignored and not even spoken to let alone served and so they returned to their room. After we had finished our meal we ordered four drinks, we waited fifteen minutes and no drinks arrived so we asked where they were and the staff member went to find out. We were then advised that they would be done soon but after another 7-8 minutes we still hadn't received them so we got up to pay our bill and leave. At this point the bar staff member came over and apologized for not pouring our drinks as he had been 'busy'. We were sat within view of the bar and there had only been four young ladies ordering drinks who he had been chatting with and one hot chocolate order so we told him this wasn't true. When we said we had cancelled the order he stomped off making a point of screwing up our order ticket and throwing it away, as apparently he hadn't even started our order received almost 25 minutes before. There was no reason at all for the delay except that the staff member just hadn't bothered to do his job. Then upon receiving our bill for the meal the four undelivered drinks were still on the bill! After having them removed along with the service charge we settled our bill and were kindly offered a bottle of prosecco by the duty manager. Unfortunately for the serving staff they lost their tip due to the bar staff and whoever didn't check the bill correctly before giving it to us. The following evening sitting out side my wife went to the bar to get a bottle of lager and two Baileys. Upon returning she advised that the Baileys were £9.50 each! My granddaughter had a fifth birthday party so I booked a stay for the night to save the sixty miles journey back to Essex . Maths came into this and holiday inn came top of the pile with breakfast thrown in so a no brainer . But as you can see by my ratings for cleanliness etc this hotel is way better than you would expect . The room we had was very nicely decorated and spotless. The bathroom was the same but there are tiny little details that might go unnoticed, like the bath towels are size xl and the shower is quality , the bed mattress is top quality . I could go on , but for my money I feel I got every penny . Breakfast was buffet style , so cereal , full English ,tea coffee juice , fruit , eat as much as you like . Microwave in reception , where else do you see that ? Reception toilets spotless. This is an eye opener for me as travelodge used to be my go to . But no more

I am a regular in the area for business, but I usually stay in MK or Woburn. But now will add the CMDC to my regular list. Good honest room for an overnighter, plenty of safe car parking. Great breakfast!

At least 3 times a year a group if us go for a quilting retreat. All the feedback is so positive. Great staff, friendly, welcoming, flexible. So clean and food- overfed and so much choice. Booked for 3 events in 2023 already and about to book for 2024. So glad we found this place.

Il personale di accoglienza amichevole, molto utile, non potevamo arrivare al ristorante principale, così si chiamavano “I conigli” che era sullo stesso sito per assicurarsi di poter ottenere cibo e anche guardare il calcio che era quello che interessava mio figlio. La camera era bella, pulita, confortevole e una bella doccia potente nel bagno. La colazione era buffet, costantemente con cibo fresco. Un ambiente tranquillo sarebbe certamente tornato, ma ci saremmo arrivati in tempo per usare la piscina.

Fantastic. Greeted by a friendly and cheerful lady who then personally shows you to your room. Restaurant and bar staff friendly and nothing g too much trouble (Emilia) lovely girl and then breakfast in the morning sun again very friendly lady serving breakfast. Felt like you knew everybody. Rooms beautiful and food great. Would recommend
