Our room was a decent size but the bathroom was really snug. The mattress was pretty uncomfortable and needed replacing. The chair was stained. Overall everything was a bit worn. On the plus side, we had a lovely view of Battle Abbey. Breakfast was nothing special.

Popped in here before we visited Battle. We ordered Ploughman’s lunches which were described as “The Best in Sussex”. They weren’t kidding! It was enormous and wonderfully delicious. Like poor old Harold it defeated us - there was more than we could handle! The young staff are extremely helpful, caring and friendly. We reckon it would be worth the trek to try the Sunday lunch which also looks stupendous. That would probably defeat us too!

We had a private family and friends function on a Saturday night and I have to say it was excellent. The staff were all super friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble for them - very accommodating. The layout of the place is perfect and the garden was a great place to hang out. The rooms were great and the little touches (like bath robes, magnifying mirrors etc) were lovely. The breakfast the next morning was fantastic as was the food the night before. The big thing about this place was the staff - they seemed to enjoy the party as much as we all did and they, as well as the band (The Smoking Jackets) really made it a great event. Thank you all.

A simply delightful hotel, in a wonderful location. From the minute we arrived, we were made to feel genuinely welcome. Our room was a comfortable size, and beautifully appointed. It was spotlessly clean and tidy. It was a warm night on our night here, but a decent fan was available in the room. The bathroom was also spotlessly clean and contained all we needed. Finally, we had an early dinner in the hotel restaurant, which consisted of one of the best Sunday roasts I’ve ever had. Faultless. Service was great, throughout, and the 11am checkout time very generous. For the price we paid, I would say that we got 100% VFM.

Absolutely vile the way I’ve been treated! Came here after coming out of hospital and abused by staff because I was sat at a table 1 hour before the football started. Seriously sick of people treating me like a leper.and this was apparently the manager!!!

We stayed at the Abbey Hotel this weekend for our friends birthday celebrations. What can we say??? Amazing staff, fantastic food and very comfortable accommodation. Loved it, everything about this hotel is just perfect. Could not recommend this hotel more. Never been to a hotel with such friendly and helpful staff! Thank you all for a terrific weekend

I stayed at the Abbey for two night for my wedding The room was great , clean , bright and had everything we needed It even had sky available on the tv The bathroom was a good size and again clean and functional The morning of the wedding all my bridesmaids and 4 little flower girls came to get ready with me This was not a problem at all The team were fantastic and very helpful When we left the room to go to the wedding we rushed out and left the room in a bit of a mess When we arrived back my best friend needed to go to the room to find it had been completely sorted and tidied so when me and my husband went up that evening it was all ready for our arrival They gave us a room at the back of the hotel that led into the garden which again was perfect , it meant anyone of my party that wanted to use the room could get access easily We had breakfast the next morning and both being vegetarian were a little worried it may be bland as some can be but this was great Fresh, hot and exactly what we needed to start the day It’s a great place and a great location Thank you
