Vision Apartments Basel is in a great location close to the station - handy if you will be using the main Basel SBB station to travel around Switzerland. Rooms at the back are quiet. The apartment was very clean and up-to-date with decor and furnishings. The shower was powerful. Although there is no aircon, our apartment was well ventilated with a window and patio door and good black-out blinds, so it stayed fairly cool on a hot couple of days. The 'terrace apartment' (no 201) on the second floor was quite small, with not much room to get around the bed and a single stool at a breakfast bar to sit on. Ours was decorated in dark brown so it felt quite dim and even smaller than it was. Because Vision Apartments Basel is a fully digital property, there are no staff on-site. You can't drop off your baggage before your room is ready at 3pm as your door code will not work until 3pm. While we were there, the electronic door code system went wrong and it was quite stressful trying to work out how to get into our apartment. A Vision Apartments staff member was brought onsite and we had to locate them whenever we wanted to re-enter our apartment. It took a couple of days to fix the problem. Our 'terrace apartment' had a very small covered balcony but there was no table and chairs. From the roof terrace I could see that all the other similar balconies had furniture. I requested table and chairs by email but none were provided, so there was no space for 2 people to sit and eat in the apartment. Basel visitors staying in hotels, apartments, hostels etc are entitled to a free Basel Card which is great as it gives you free local transport and half price museum entry. You can use your reservation document as proof of entitlement for the bus from the airport to the city. Your Basel Card is meant to be emailed or given to you on arrival at the property. This did not happen and I had to chase it up by email and with our travel agent - we didn't get our card until the second day of our stay. It was unclear whether breakfast was included - there were breakfast items on a bar downstairs on weekdays but no-one to ask if you were meant to pay. The breakfast area was closed off, as was access to the exterior courtyard, so there were no external shared spaces to relax outside your room, except the roof terrace, which was pleasant but small. There was renovation work in progress downstairs and a plastic sheet closed off the bar area. I would not stay in a Vision Apartments property again. The idea of an unstaffed property with everything online is great when all is provided efficiently from the outset. But when anything goes wrong, or you have a simple question, or you want to leave luggage or have the facilities explained, the lack of a receptionist or concierge is really frustrating. It didn't feel welcoming. There is a 24 hour phoneline to call with queries and the staff were helpful and spoke three languages. But they couldn't always resolve issues remotely or expla
