Unfortunately, we were not lucky to encounter the right reception staff. At our arrival we were not even greeted. We had to attract the attention of the reception staff to be able to check in. Interesting approach, especially if the person is standing right in front of you. 10 minutes after check in I approached the reception for a question and the same woman asked: "Are you checking out?" The rooms were very cold and there was no heating in the rooms, even with 11 degrees outside. We were told by the reception that the heating turns on automatically when the temperature outside reaches 20 degrees or lower. It did not happen. Breakfast: poor variety. No milk in the coffee machine and when asked staff instead of providing tell you: "Just use the creamer." If you ask for a yoghurt you are told they don't have any and you see them taking the same product to selected guests. Also, at our checkout not even a thank you and not even a goodbye. We've been in other Bastion hotels and all were great, with polite and friendly staff, service oriented and a regular breakfast service. And let's not forget the heating. So this hotel is an exception to the rule. Barendrecht is nice but the wrong hotel if you want to feel like you're a little bit respected. I hope this helps next travellers not to get in the same situation.
