I recently stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Johor Bahru and had an overall pleasant experience. The room was quite spacious, offering a comfortable and relaxing environment. The hotel itself is located in an area with relatively light traffic, which is a nice bonus, although it is a bit farther from some of the more popular tourist spots. However, there's an Aeon shopping mall nearby, which provides convenience for shopping and dining.
As for halal eateries, I wasn't able to find many in the immediate area, but there is Woodfire, a restaurant just a 2-minute walk from the hotel, which serves good food. The hotel service was also top-notch, with the staff being attentive and professional.
While the location may not be ideal for those who want to be close to major attractions, the peaceful environment and the convenience of nearby amenities make it a solid choice. I would certainly not mind visiting again.

Pro: The room size is big. Private and quiet. Feels like home. It is clean although was an old building.
Conts: Breakfast just ala carte nasi lemak or american with small portion of Rm 32. It is not included in the room booked and have to buy by walk in. I bought dinner and the nasi goreng istimewa is below expectation. The spa and all amenities closed at 8 pm while that is the time hotel guest are free after work.

The location is superb, with various eateries around. Around 500m to a MCD and KFC. It’s also not too noisy. The staff were pleasant and friendly. The toiletries provided were not sufficient, had to request from the reception for more. Some rooms also did not have a fridge. There were some flies in the room too.

EEmily22There’s no lift so had to climb a flight of stairs to get to the hotel lobby. No lift even at the lobby, have to climb stairs to get to room. Not suitable for elderly and those with wheelchair, huge luggage, prams, etc. There’s mosquitoes in the room and I got bitten. The aircon is inconsistent and not cold enough. Water dispenser only available at the lobby. No bottled water provided. The mattresses are so so only, not so comfortable. Towels worn out and not so good.

CCarolFirst of all, SPECIAL SHOUT OUT for the housekeeping lady who did the cleaning up for our room🏆🏆 We had already checked out and were waiting in the lobby for the Grab driver when the housekeeping lady rushed down and returned my daughter's earbuds!! Thank you for going the extra mile!
Other things we loved about Kyoto Boutique:
- nice classy decor and the wooden floor (I hate carpeted floors in hotel rooms cos it's hard to tell if it's clean)
- the hot water heater for the shower works perfectly!
- there is a water cooler at the floor lobby so we could get cold and hot water!!
- there is a safe in the room
- many coffeeshops and restaurants nearby. Also has a supermarket just downstairs.
- excellent service
But overall the hotel should probably do some renovations or fix some of the items in the room.
- Some parts of the wallpaper were peeling off.
- The tap was loose and had to be shut off in a particular direction or the water would keep flowing.
- the switch to the toilet did not have a cover so we couldn't switch off the lights
- the temperature of one of the aircons couldn't be adjusted so it blasted very cold air all night. Thankfully, the family suite had 2 aircons (cos the room was divided into 2 areas, each w a queen bed). So we turned on only one aircon.

UUtente anonimoThis hotel has 70+rooms. More than half of it are without window. The twin beds room seem alright. Its small but you get hair dryer, iron & board, kettle, 2 minerals water bottles. Working aircon and hot water. Able to watch free to air TV channels from Malaysia and Singapore.
Free simple breakfast include coffee, tea, powder orange juice, milk, cereal, white bread w toaster, jam and butter, water melon, orange, cherry tomato, lettuce, baked bean, hot dog, garlic bread, fries, spring roll, mini pau, mushrooms soup, porridge, fried rice, noodle.
Not enough, walk out to the coffeeshop behind the hotel, open by 7am.
Indeed, its time to change their set of towels and bed sheets etc, WORN out. Need improvement on this area. Those pictures displayed on booking websites seem like computer generated imagery.
Outdoor parking charges seem to be covered by the mgmt.
This hotel very suitable for running errands between banks as there are MORE than 10 foreign and local finance houses along Molek Utama.
Overall, happy to stay here again as the daily rate is attractive for what it offer currently.

JJOYTOTHEWORLD❤️Abbiamo avuto un fantastico soggiorno a Mosaic South Key! L'alloggio era spazioso e senza spot, rendendo la nostra esperienza molto comoda. Louis, il ragazzo della direzione, era incredibilmente utile e amichevole. Abbiamo già aspettato di tornare a gennaio!

HHuangBenjaminRoom was clean, albeit the shower screen door not being able to close. Sheets are clean. Wifi is horrendous though. Alot of food options nearby. Close to CIQ which is good. Theres a family mart right below and the surround shophouses has alot of food options so its good.

JJaycee JjLo stesso hotel di Aladdin, ma questo hotel è vicino con ciq , il tempo massimo può raggiungere circa 20 minuti. Ecco un ristorante di alimenti per la notte che si apre solo dopo le 17:00, poi il tempo di notte può saltare mentre gode di alimenti per la notte. Solo ah, a volte l'aria condizionata non fredda. Vieni per poche volte pronto huhuhu nessuno lavanderia autoservizio vicino e mini mercato .

Mmikechang829Lucky Hotel is under the same boss of SG Hotel and Ritzton Hotel nearby. Hence, you may expect to have a similar level of facility and service across these options.
Overall, I would say Lucky Hotel is a very good value-for-money hotel when you consider staying around downtown of Johor Bahru.
