This place used to be great, but no more. First the good points, since there are a few. The current wonders have spent a lot of money expanding the sauna facilities and the expanded saunaplein in particular is pleasant. Now the many negative points. The food in the previous "Waters of the World" restaurant was very good. The current restaurant, called Norell, is decidedly disappointing. It only has a fixed menu. Moreover we were warned on a previous trip that if we had any dietary restrictions we should inform them in advance. We did, but it didn't help. One of my favourite sauna's was always the kruidenbad (herb sauna). Only now it doesn't have any herbs. So it is just another relatively cool sauna, of which they have several. This change is entirely negative, so why do it? Also I have a suspicion that the temperature in the very large salt water bath has been turned down. I can't prove it, but it didn't feel as amazing as on earlier visits. They have a great park to walk around. This remains beautiful. So why reduce the number of hammocks and seats. Service in the outside rest areas is very poor. Even when it is very busy they only seem of have one person serving. We were there three days and not once did anyone offer us anything. They are currently refurbishing the bedrooms, so you can expect noise and unfinished spaces. Which would be less irritating, if they hadn't put prices up considerably.

We have been to this wellness resort many times in the past. Sadly the price/quality ratio gets only worse. This time, we had booked a room on the ground floor with a terrace. When we got to the room, we discovered that there was only one outside chair with no other furniture on the terrace. When I called the reception, I was told, with no apology offered for the inconvenience, that the new furniture had not arrived. No help was offered to bring replacements. The following day was 1st May and "badkledingdag". The result was that the resort, saunas and areas were so busy that we could not even find a sunbed/chair to sit or lie on. While I accept that such days will be busier, there was no effort made to accomodate the extra guests. The atmosphere was really not relaxing, the guests were loud and inconsiderate and we retreated finally to our room for peace and quiet (without terrace chairs). Fortunately the park is still beautiful even if they have removed most of the comfortable seating and all of the hammocks. The restaurant offers only a "surprise" menu and the drinks are overpriced. When we complained about the shortcomings during our stay at checkout, we received no apology. "There are worse things in the world" was the receptionist's reaction when we pointed out that they should not advertise services which could not be provided. We will not be hurrying back.

Unfriendly staff and too high pricing for old and dirty equipment. Using phone in the wellness area is not allowed, so if you have to check any messages be ready that staff will come and tell that it is a violation, not talking about photos.

It is okay and the thermal water is great and sauna as well but missing the cool down water area outside which was broken and inside it was way too busy. This also meant no flexibility for treatments and overall understaffed when you had a question at the spa or beauty area. The hotel rooms are okay but outdated and that is partly the same in the rest of the venue. Overall okay to go for an afternoon including a nice lunch but not worth a long drive.

In oktober 2024 heb ik een badenkaart gekocht voor het Thermen gedeelte en de sauna. De directie was toen op de hoogte van de voorgenomen wijzigingen binnen het ressort. We kwamen nu tot de ontdekking dat er van een Thermen (Thermaalbad) geen sprake meer is. Er word geen zoutwater meer opgepompt uit de grond. Dus Bad Nieuweschans mag zich geen Thermen bad meer noemen zoals Thermae 2000 in Valkenburg. We voelen ons belazerd nu er geen thermaalbad meer is. Wij waren al verbaast dat er veel minder gasten waren in het ressort. Met name de Duitse gasten hebben Nieuweschans de rug toegekeerd. Een blamage van de directie om Nieuweschans gelijk te trekken met alle andere ressort die onder dit bedrijf vallen. Bad Nieuweschans was uniek in het Noorden maar gaat nu ten onder aan foute keuzes. Triest. Wij zijn gasten van het eerste uur maar zoeken nu elders onze heil. Want een heilzaam bad is in Bad Nieuweschans ver zoek.

Gisteren ( zaterdag ) geweest, we hadden gereserveerd… “ u weet van onze veranderingen?” vroeg de baliemedewerkster bij binnenkomst. Nou nee dus…” alles is nu bloot… er zijn alleen nog twee aparte badkledingdagen door de week!” antwoordde ze! Ja daar stonden we dan.. ruim een uur gereden én gereserveerd! Thermaalbaden waren niet zoals anders niet écht warm en chloorgeur, de kristal sauna stonk naar zweet en ik vond het erg rumoerig, luidruchtige gesprekken, op het binnenplein bij de voetbaden en buiten. Wél genoten, maar het is zéker niet meer zo het was! Jammer

Allereerst de prijs ,is in een paar jaar tijd extreem verhoogd Verder is er sprake van achterstallig onderhoud ,kwam vroeger ook al maar het ziet erg nog net zo uit ,is versleten Verder is de temperatuur van het bad verlaagd en ruikt naar chloor Er is geen toezicht Kortom te duur voor wat je krijgt

Je kan voor 3 uur boeken... Na kopje koffie in het restaurant uurtje te laat bij de balie, willen ze dagtarief gaan berekenen. In die 3 uur ook nog lunch gedaan.. Staat er stoelmassage op de rekening die we niet hebben gehad, werden amper geloofd... Nu ook niet meer alleen de thermaalbaden te boeken maar nu betalen voor alle faciliteiten... Moet je wel vd sauna houden.. Erg jammer, we komen er niet weer. Het was een vervelend eind bij de kassa na een paar uurtjes relaxen in het bad wat volgens ons ook is veranderd, je ruikt de zwavel niet meer...is er iets met het water gedaan?

De thermenbaden waren teleurstellend. Erg vol! Er was geen toezicht op veelvuldig mobiel gebruik van gasten en aardig wat mensen in het bad die wel iets te intiem waren. Jammer, niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Het diner daarentegen was overheerlijk.
