My goodness, I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this hotel! I stayed for 3 nights at the beginning of a 2 week trip and then I changed from another hotel back to this one for the last 2 nights of this trip. The ladies who run the place are wonderful, Gina, Afroditi and one more (forgot the name). 2 of them are sisters and their mother often makes breakfast treats and liquors, such as the homemade pomegranite liquor that was served upon check in! I have no idea what gives this hotel a 1 star rating instead of something much higher....because they have a good and hot free breakfast with fresh fruit, egg dishes, cheese, meats, vegetables, granola, Greek pastries and more! The breakfast is served until 10:30am, allowing plenty of time to sleep in. Everything is neat and clean and there is a grammophone museum in the basement as well. It's an amazing property! So, I had 2 different rooms, and both had balconies and were reasonably priced with plenty of room and comfortable linens on the bed. The beds were quite comfortable and I slept so well! Both rooms came with nice terry robes, slippers, shower with hand held and rainfall heads, plus greek olive oil soap, shampoo, conditioner, lotion and body wash. There is also a shower cap and a tiny ”vanity kit” that has the nail file, cotton swabs, etc that are useful when traveling. The water pressure was great and plenty hot! If you like you can purchase a travel set of the toiletries as well as souvenirs for a reasonable price. The room lighting was excellent too and both rooms had character. I used the balcony in both to drink my morning tea, on the 4th floor I had a view of the Acropolis/Parthenon and it was gorgeous; on the 2nd floor, I had a view of the neighborhood. The balconies were free of bugs and clean and had tables and chairs. The rooms had an in-room fridge, safe and a coffee maker/hot water tea pot. Speaking of the neighborhood, the restaurants nearby are fabulous. It's a short walk to all the historic ruins and shops. The ladies at the checkin can give fantastic guidance and recommendations for restaurants, historic attraction timing and they can even arrange a taxi to and from the airport with credit card (at the same rate as Welcome). Also, within 1 block is a laundry service, National Dry Cleaning, and they will deliver your landry back to the hotel. Also, nearby are some excellent gift shops, and a wonderful wine shop. This spot was so perfect for everything!!! Monasteraki (the shopping area) is also a short walk away and this area is totally safe (single woman traveler here). The hotel is secure and staffed all day until 11pm and then there is a secure separate entrance that works with your hotel key. What else? The location and service are fabulous and a fantastic bargain for the money! The only thing missing is a rooftop pool, lol! I loved staying here and would want to return again!!!!
