The Delice Hotel is a good choice for a stay in Athens. We enjoyed our stay here and it worked out well for us, and we would recommend it - but it is probably more suited to a certain type of person. Here is the abridged, simple summary review - if you expect luxury or are a snob - don't book this, you will be disappointed. If you are a reasonable, down to earth person who is happy with basic, decent, clean accommodation and is not bothered about a hotel looking ultra modern and plush then this hotel is perfectly good and suitable. Here is more detailed review - To be fair and honest for other customers - although graded as a 4 star hotel it does not really look / feel like that, it is ore like a 3 or 2.5 star rating. And we can understand how other people have downgraded it or given a less than favourable review. It looks and feels quite dated in some ways - to the point of looking like it was decorated and furnished in the 70's ! LOL There are no plush extras at the Delice (like a swimming pool or sauna) and it does seem to be somewhere between a hotel and apartments. However, this did not bother us as when on holiday we spend minimal time in the hotel and are out and about most days exploring. Good points about the Delice are # Decent Location - the location is decent for Athens. At first we thought the area was a bit out of the way and basic but once you explore Athens you realise that it is in one of the nicer areas. Although it takes approx. 25 to 30 mins to walk from the hotel to Athens centre, we did this many times and it was always ok (apart from the atrocious greek pavements, but that is another story LOL). We never had any trouble or felt unsafe in any part of Athens, even late at night - it is a very friendly and safe city so do not be put off by the look of the area. The hotel is about 5 mins walk from the nearest metre station, so easy to access from the airport. There are also buses that go along near the main road nearby, although we never used these and did not need to as we went on foot around most of Athens. # Local bars & restaurants - there are quite a few bars. restaurants and some supermarkets with a few minutes walk of the hotel. Sore literally just over the road and others are in the areas 10 mins away from the hotel so if you explore there are plenty of options. For the best variety and atmosphere though, you still want to go to the city old town area (its great) # Staffed reception - staffed 24/7 so no matter what time you arrive there will be someone to assist. The reception were always friendly and helpful with us. # Decent breakfast - is a basic European / greek buffet, and it is the same choices every day. A fairly limited selection of local meats, cheeses and a few cooked items (sausages, eggs), and pastries and things like olives and bread. There was always plenty of food available and we tried something different every day, so we enjoyed it and were more than happy. The local toma
