The Beeches, Ashby-De-la-Zouch

Comfortable good value room. We stayed while visiting relatives in the area. Beds were comfortable and room was quiet. Tea and coffee making facilities and toiletries provided. Full breakfast in the morning and really welcoming and friendly staff.

Cannot fault the staff and most of the meal, but I have never seen vegetables like it. Told the waitress who said she would tell the chef, if he couldn't see what they looked like on sending them out he needs to go to the opticians.

The pub that is attached to the hotel is absolutely lovely, but being so remote is dead during the week and as a result closes early, which is understandable. The hotel itself is decorated to a good standard and the bed was comfortable but there are a few issues that made me rate it lower than it should be. Heating didn't work so was very cold in the morning. No shower gel or shampoo provided and the sink soap dispenser was empty. The continental breakfast included a muffin that was stale and no way to toast it, it would have been better to provide a croissant. No spoon to eat the porridge with and no table or chair to sit at. There is space for one and would enable people to work. Mainly little issues that if addressed would make a big difference, but please fix the heating!

Excellent for an overnight stay. Very reasonably priced with a very good continental breakfast delivered to our room. Easily accessed from the M42. We didn't have a chance to have a meal but it looked a good standard pub. Would use The Beeches again.

We have been to their carvery on Sundays and cannot complain. It was very good. Also have been there for everyday meals. Also very good food. Went in on Friday this past week and had to send back my well overdone steak. Was not given a hard time and received a newly cooked one that was amazing. Thank you ! Their prices are pretty average but I think some of the chicken dishes could be a bit less expensive. We will continue to have the occasional meal there for sure. We never stayed in the hotel so cannot rate or review it.

This is an OK place to stay (clean, relatively comfortable, etc), but it is seriously lacking in any form of customer service. It may be that as we were staying around Xmas that the staff were too busy with other tasks (the pub and restaurant seem to be the key parts of the business, with the rooms as an afterthought. It is listed as a "B&B" but doesn't have the feel of a B&B, more like a cheap motel. Little things that add up to an unsatisfactory stay - no towels in our room (and no staff on site to get them from), heating turned off (I had to work out how to turn it on at 5am because the room had become so cold), key information not passed on to us, as well as smaller things that alone wouldn't have bothered us, but taken together just added to the feeling of being an irritation rather than a guest. Not terribly expensive but definitely doesn't feel like value.
