Parador de Artíes

We stayed here one night on a summer road trip through the Pyrenees. It was very quiet - clearly its main season is winter. Even so, the staff were very welcoming. We had a nice room - quiet and comfortable. It’s in the centre of a very nice village - birthplace of the founder of San Diego. The dinner was really excellent and there was a very good selection for breakfast. Car parking easy and a small but nice swimming pool.

This hotel was an unexpected surprise! Located in a lovely little village surrounded by mountains, it has a very cosy feel from the moment you roll into the car park. Staff were very welcoming and efficient at checking us in and allocating our room. The room was quite large with a very ample en-suite bathroom and a big comfy bed. There is nothing to not like about this hotel, I can just imagine being holed up here in mid-winter enjoying the excellent food and cosiness of the hotel. If I had to be nit-picky the only points I can think to add is that I couldn't get the air-con to work and the room was quite warm. The bathroom, while lovely, has lethally slippery tiled floors when wet, so be careful when leaving the shower! Would love to return here one day and take in more of the hotel and the surrounding areas.

The location is great, in a little village, easily accessible, superb views of the mountains, and in an area full of resources for hiking and medieval art. Additionally, as usually happens with Paradores, it was a safe bet, that is, everything worked fine, the personnel was quite professional, quality of services, very unique decoration and a singular building. Finally, a very loooong swimming pool. Nice…

Unhelpful staff on reception, parts of the hotel not open rooms dated and some furniture and fitting broken. No views from the bedroom to the location of the windows. Lack of elevator to access the room coupled by no help from the reception staff

I really liked this hotel. I liked our room, it had everything that we needed, including a really great bathroom. I thought the beds were comfortable, it was clean, and I have very few complaints. My husband on the other hand would complain about the lack of air conditioning. He found it got far too hot during the night, and he had a hard time sleeping. My only complaint, is that the pool was very, very cold, despite the hot weather. They would benefit from putting a solar blanket on the pool at night or some thing. Also, I found the bar and restaurant staff not rude exactly but not super great either. The Front desk staff were fabulous. They told us how to reach the hiking trails and gave us lots of great suggestions.
