We had looked forward to our holiday at Caranel Grecotel for quite a few months. When we arrived, the staff were very attentive. It was late afternoon so we unpacked, had a quick shower and went for dinner. The dining room and outside area was beautiful. The staff, again couldn't do enough for us. The food was tasty and plentiful. The soup served daily was the best we had ever tasted. When we woke up the next morning we could smell a sewage smell in our room. We reported this and was told someone would deal with it. The odour had gone when we came back to our room but next morning it was back. Duly reported again. Unfortunately the smell never left our room the whole of our holiday. Our cleaner tired to mask it each day but it always came back. The table for the kettle was cheap small and wobbly and so were the bedside tables. Where were the lovely pieces of furniture that were highlighted in your videos of the rooms. Our bath towels were small and worn, not a good advert for a 5* hotel. We enjoyed our holiday and tried not to think of the problems we had during our stay. I'm afraid we won't be back. Again, many thanks to all the staff who worked so hard to help us.

Difficile trovare difetti in questo confortevolissimo e bell’hotel!!! Le camere sono luminose, Linde e spaziose, con letti comodi e biancheria in cotone cambiata ogni giorno. La pulizia delle aree comuni è ineccepibile e il personale di servizio è premuroso e con divise sempre in ordine e immacolate. Pur vivendo nel lusso si respira una meravigliosa atmosfera di ospitalità e premura nei confronti del cliente. Autentico punto di forza è però il comparto ristorazione la cui ineccepibile e cordiale manager guida in team affiatato ed efficiente! Ogni desiderio o necessità del cliente viene prontamente soddisfatta!!! Unico punto debole è forse il comparto piscina (comunque pulitissima e sorvegliata) in cui abbiamo trovati alcuni lettini sfondati e con materassini non in grado di sostenere il corpo: vana ogni richiesta al bagnino di provvedere in merito.

We’re sad to be checking out of Eleven today, we’ve had a wonderful few days here. Thoughtfully designed with high quality fittings, the rooms are fresh and cool to return to after a day on the quiet little beach. The pool area is modern and very nice. The location is great with a bakery and coffee shop and supermarket which are walkable, and it’s only a few minutes by car into Rethymno. But the winning feature for us was the restaurant! Beautiful food, excellent service, great views… we were really looked after. We appreciate how fantastic the service at both the hotel and restaurant was… we would not hesitate to return here!!! Thank you Eleven staff you are brilliant, professional, and so friendly!!! A little bit of luxury but still has that traditional Greek feeling… and that awesome Greek hospitality!

Lovely hotel, a good 4 out of 5 from me The hotel is impressive looking, especially at night. The pools are lovely and staff great. I was especially touched by the effort Irina, Debi and Demitris put into make sure my partner had a very special 60th birthday at the resort. The hotel group also own a farm which you can visit and enjoy a fabulous meal as part of the package. A sister hotel has a water park which we enjoyed too. Our room was a fabulous location with a little garden leading right out to the pool. It was a little dated but perfectly functional. The swim up rooms looked amazing but i rarely saw people in the water. Not sure how suited they would be for kids. My one frustration was the a la carte restaurants. You have to book 6 days in advance and you are limited as to how many times you can use them. Although the buffet was by far one of the best we have experienced, we much prefer to have an a la carte dinner. We maxed out our booking slots (accepting we would have a handful of buffet meals, but did this before we knew about the hotel entertainment schedule. We had to forgo two a la carte restaurants in order to enjoy the entertainment. Also worth noting for families that one restaurant is only available for 12+ guests and another published on the website is only open in high season so we had a greek, Italian and asain available to us. The hotel has a lovely chocolate shop and does fabulous desserts (although very chocolate based). There is a crepe and waffle place open till 6pm. the buffet closes after mealtimes. I understand the bar offers late night snacks. The drinks are good quality although I have to say the drinks from the long bar by the restaurants are by far superior. Shame there isn’t a lounge area to sit at there. Would I go again, probably. I must admit though the offer at Mitsis with the creperie open til 2am and the a la carte ‘street food’ by the pool is a bit more suited to our tastes.
