Rethymno Mare & Water Park

Big Disappointment. - The hotel is not on the beach, getting to the beach is dangerous, there is no proper road for pedestrians, and you need to cross the street - Location is terrible - ruined buildings - To many stairs everywhere, elevators - not for small children or pregnant ladies - Dirty Rooms - cleaning is poor and not done on daily basis. - Entertainment - poor, almost none - Pool - broken and dirty sun-beds - Staff - not professional at all, aggressive and not helpful. Mr. Nikos and the staff from the restaurant are the only ones to be appreciated. Food - not a big variety to select from Drinks - cheap juice, water only by glass This is the worst family hotel we have stayed in. Descriptions on various sites and pictures do not reflect the reality. The kids enjoyed the pool. This was the only positive. Will not recommend to anyone, and would not return not even for free.

I am being as objective as possible. We booked a room with a private pool at the Rethymno Royal. It advertises 2 restaurants and the photos on their website and *********** show a beautiful restaurant, variety of foods (text reads : variety of Mediterranean food). We were shocked to see that people queue for 25 min downstairs (try sitting up for 25 min waiting in line in summer heat with a baby and 3 years old, both very hungry). Despite having 2 restaurants advertised, there was only one at the other hotel ( Rethymno Mare, which is the cheaper version of Royal). After waiting in line, we realised that there was no edible food. French fries and canned vegetables are medditeranean traditional food? Dirty restaurant, chairs with holes in them, food was awful (tried giving a brocoli to my baby but it was extremely salty and watery). There were so many people waiting for a table and for some food everyone complaining. We tried to speak with the manager and the receptionist said we will be contacted by the manager. 7 days have passed and we are still here and no sign from the manager. We had to rent a car and go outside to eat as there was no way for us to get a table and decent food. However, as the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, it is a 15-20 min car drive to the nearest village/ city. So we paid for our meals at the hotel but we are forced to go out. Many other guests are doing the same. Room was not well cleaned and we only got 1 soap (tiny one) for a family of 4 for 7 nights stay ! Room was never cleaned, they only come to pick up the garbage and change towels if you ask for this (once every two days). There is no 5 stars service as they advertise and nothing to do in the area. On the plus side : The water park is great indeed and our children loved it, the staff working there is amazing. Same for the mini disco in the evening, we were so happy that at least we got this, otherwise our holidays would have been a total disaster. Also many thanks to the two girls working at the snacks and drinks at the pool, they were lovely! I am seriously considering filing a formal complaint for false advertising and misleading information for customers. On top of this, the restaurant manager yelled at my daughter (not even 4 years old) and made her cry. Bed sheet had holes in it, the fridge in the room is not working and you have to pay 16 euros if you want to use the locker in the room (which 5 stars or even 3 stars hotel asks you for money to use the locker in your room after you paid a fortune for the holiday ????). The room with the private pool is very nice but not worth it given the overall situation with the lack of service at the hotel. We are truly sad because we were looking so much forward to this holiday and it was a huge miss due to the hotel. We feel mislead and lied to.

I’m still here, and cant wait to gonhome. The place is dirty, our bed hasn’t been cleaned for 3 day’s. Staff isn’t friendly only the people at the reception are trying. Drinks are bad, pools are bad, room was dirty when we arrived. The food is every day the same, cheap and easy. This place should have A star hotel rating. Like i said cant wait to go home.

This hotel is totally 3-4 stay hotel and NOT 5 star. - no double bed was given even though we booked a double bed room for a couple, then they gave us a double size top mattress cover to put on top of the single beds to make it look like double. Which was smaller than bed and kept moving uncomfortably during the night. - The food is made using really cheap ingredient and had no variety. The staff give you attitude if you are late to eat. - unprofessional waiters in the restaurant floor cleaning and making loud noises with plates that makes it totally annoying - 3 star service and no proper training for staffs - The good points however : - full of children and suitable for families with children - Flexible bookings , they were generous to extend our stay for one day due to flight cancellation - Good cocktails

We were very happy with our stay at Rethymno Mare hotels! We as a family of 4 choose this all inclusive hotel for our 1 week holiday in late June 23. The staff was really warm and welcoming. I would especially like to mention Linda from the poolbar and Miron and Mikos from the restaurant - they are fantastic! We can highly recommend this hotel! The food was nice and with a good mix, the room was good and was cleaned every day

We stayed in Rethymno Mare last and this year and really had a great time here, despite older hotel it’s well maintained with plenty of green and flowers. Friendly staff and ok food ( plenty of fresh fruits at all meals) but the room cleaning is miserable. Had to complain few times to get bathroom cleaned once in our 2 weeks stay. If you ask at reception they are nice and willed to help but don’t know why the cleaning prioritize to make our beds in stead of actually clean where it’s obviously needed. Please dear Rethymno staff if you read this, do something about the cleaning situation, heard lots of complains about it and it’s sad that this destroys your else so good reputation. Apart of cleaning we can recommend this hotel, very family friendly, we really had good time at your hotel.

The people are all very friendly. My son loved the animation team there and they really took care of us. In the mini market works a nice lady who always smile and the store has anything you forget at home. And a few souvenirs. There's also a jewelry shop with really nice things. Not that expensive either

I have my best vacation with wife and four kids, the rooms are clean and we had private swimming pool the restaurants very good and the staff very friendly the animation team did a great work but they need back stage and more lights in the theatre and costumes for the show’s. Ahmed you are a great entertainer keep goin and all the animation team . Thank you all the staff and specialy Ahmed ,Nikos , Maria and bessy of market .Love from Holland ❤️
