Lochgair Hotel

The place was so bad we didn't stay. It looked busy by the car park but it turned out the owner collects cars and they were all his. There was no sign of any staff apart from the owner. We asked where the bar was and he said there was no bar and you could get drinks at dinner. Why is there a bar shown on the images. There was no atmosphere in the place and we saw no other guests. Despite paying our stay in advance we decided to leave and get alternative accommodation as it was that bad. Seems like a fairy tail the other reviews on the page. We have since spoken to other people about the place and they have said that it is not a hotel but it is the owners own residence.

My 150th TripAdvisor review and thankfully it’s a positive one! Busy up in Scotland on a Netflix TV production with location filming at Inveraray Castle and booked into room 11 at the Lochgair Hotel near Lochgilphead. I rather enjoyed my stay at this rather quirky family run hotel. I couldn’t fault the place for upkeep of the bedroom with en suite, beds are made daily, room hoovered, teasmade goodies replenished, toilet rolls replaced etc etc etc Unfortunately I never got to try a cooked breakfast as I was away at 0600 every morning, but there was a selection of cereals, fruit, and yoghurts and bread for toast. Evening meals served at the hotel are decent enough, there’s a small selection of starters, mains and even a vegan/vegetarian option available, I had the homemade spaghetti bolognaise one evening which I really enjoyed but beware the jalapeño with cheese bites, these things are like volcanic lava. On the whole the Lochgair hotel is what it is, a family run hotel offering warm, clean rooms with en suite and homemade food during the allocated dinings hours.
