Disappointing. Andrew missing most of time Room dressed and decorated in black and gold , as a result v v dark even with lights on . Staffing difficulties the reason I believe . Good job you had Ellis was working ( he started on our arrival day . ) Description and claims on website left us underwhelmed

We have stayed here on numerous occasions and it never fails to exceed our expectations. The rooms have been recently upgraded as well as the bar area. These facts are incidentally when you get that long lost family welcome every time you return. The owner Andrew is a credit to his staff who are all polite and engaging. We unfortunately only stay one night on this visit and chose to dine in the bar. The food was out of this world and the atmosphere was great as always. We went on to explore the small isles on this visit but we are already planning a trip to St Kilda on our next adventure.

Lovely, quaint, authentic inn come up with heaps of character and charm. Room was very clean and well equipped. Premises were beautiful. Bar had been extensively refurbished and had a lot of history and very tastefully decorated. Well worth the drive.

We made the reservation 3 months in advance. When making the reservation we requested a cot and extra bed for our under 3yo. Everything was confirmed in the email. We arrived to check in and they told us that they still had to put the cot and the extra bed. So 20 minutes passed and they still didn't come to do It. I want to reception to ask again and they said they were on It. Another 40 minutes after, they still didn't come. So, after the third time we went to ask, those who looked like the owners came to put the cot and the bed. She was quite friendly, the man seemed upset because England was playing and we had bothered him. It's not my problem that you don't know how to organize yourself. The two girls at the bar and restaurant did what they could, but it wasn't enough. So we had to wait a long hour for the room to be fixed. Then the WiFi didn't work. Whoever looked like the owner or manager said me in his iPhone was working but was not on my Android. They didn't restart it until more people compliant. We ordered dinner and the fish and chips was lovely, the burger, for a fairly normal price. They brought it to our room, the waitress was very friendly. The next morning we wanted to leave for a wee walk but reception was closed, they didn't open until 8:30 in the morning, and they told us that we could have left because we had a key but, of course, nobody told us that. The girl apologized for not saying it. Breakfast was from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. you have to leave the room, so very tight. We Guess is because was not many guests for breakfast you can't go relaxed. Very good breakfast, especially the haggis. the rest, typical hotel breakfast. In conclusion I would not return to this hotel, because it is not cheap for what it offers. For the same money you can have another one. the area is beautiful.

This hotel is a fantastic find! Beautiful location, fantastic staff and wonderful stay throughout. Room immaculate, restaurant and meal brilliant, cleanliness exceptional. Breakfast very good and lady member of staff works hard in reception, bar, restaurants and at breakfast. Will definitely be back!

We chose to stop off here ( Thur 13th June 2024) on our way back from holiday based on all the great reviews we’d read online. Sadly our experience was quite different. I am guessing that the Inn is having staffing issues as we were looked after by one girl who was practically running the bar and restaurant herself, she was trying to do her best but as the 2 other guys supposedly looking after the restaurant were beyond useless at the job they were tasked with, she was struggling. Sorry to say that unless the owners sort out their staff and have them properly trained before allowing them on the restaurant floor the great reviews will quickly turn to bad ones. The Inn itself was clean and comfortable although the decor in the rooms/ restaurant was a bit dated….black and gold everywhere. The so called al a carte menu was a big disappointment and was no more than pub grub of which we waited well over an hour for! We weren’t told about breakfast times and only found out it was only served between 8.30 and 9.30am when we met the guests from the room next to us coming back as everything was still locked up and the reception was in darkness…at 8am. I think this place is trying to appear much grander than it can actually deliver as their website looks great. Needless to say we won’t be making a return visit.🥲

Most enjoyable, relaxed stay. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. Though some of the decor was not to our taste all the fittings and fixtures were good quality and functional. Overall top marks. Susan

Jamie and Robert were absolutely fantastic! We had a fabulous Saturday night in the bar with heaps of atmosphere and local colour and even some dancing! These young men were charming and attentive throughout our stay and kept calm in the most challenging of circumstances! They are a credit to Ardfern!! The location is gorgeous and the garden a lovely place to sit. There are wider staffing issues which can impact negatively but there is much to like here.

Nice staff. Bedroom decor not to our liking especially compared to photos on website. Good shower. Breakfast was nice. Not sure restaurant is really fine dining.
