Just got back from a fabulous stay in Flaine! We were very lucky to have two flurries of snow whilst we were here, which meant skiing conditions were superb! The hotel itself was clean and well kept. We particularly liked the lounge area where we met other families for ‘games nights’ and a chat in front of a beautiful fire! All the staff were very helpful and answered any questions we had! You can order bakery goods from reception the day before to collect each morning each morning. We were told that next season this will all be done online. The room was great. We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment with lounge and kitchen. You get an en-suite shower room as well as bathroom with separate toilet. Our room was 012, and had a balcony that overlooked the courtyard, Flaine and the mountains. Waking up to views of the mountains each morning was amazing, and lunch on the sunny balcony was beautiful! Definitely recommend a room this side of the hotel. The facilities were great too! The swimming pool was clean and well kept, located on -1 floor. The outdoor hot tub was lovely and steam room and sauna was great too. There is a spa on site, but we didn’t use. There is a Spar shop on site, which is quite expensive, so my advise would be to stop at the supermarket on the way to the resort or to take a trip to the Sherpa in Flaine Forum. There is also a lovely restaurant on site too, who couldn’t have made us more welcome! We had fondue with charcuterie and pizza for the kids, with the latter available to order to takeaway back to your room. Ignore the negative reviews. The resort is expensive (as is most ski resorts!), so expect higher prices than in the UK. You are allocated a heated ski locker to keep your gear on -2 floor, which leads you to the courtyard for ski in/ski out. Prior to booking, we read a few negative reviews about this, which we feel were unjust and unfair on the hotel. The snowplough prepares a run of snow for ski in/ski out from the courtyard, and when there has been flurries of snow, this is a great green run behind Eos (sister hotel) down to the Gerats chair lift. However, the first couple of days we were there, there wasn’t enough snow on the Green run, and although the do their best, it is out of control of the hotel. However, a 10metre walk up the ‘ski in’ slope under the arch takes you to another green run at the front of the hotel so that you can ski out. All in all, not too much of a hardship! It takes about 10 mins to ski into the main ski area of Flaine. With a button lift and the Gerats chair lift taking you back to the hotel. Just a heads up, we got caught out one day with the button lift closing due to lack of snow on the lift, but we’re happy to get the free bus shuttle back to the hotel. Free bus shuttles run every 15 mins during peak season. Whilst we were there , they ran every 30 mins. The ski school we booked is located in the courtyard, which was perfect for drop off and collection. It was our kids first ski holi
