Hotel 4 U Saliya Garden

I had the misfortune of reserving at Hotel 4 U Saliya Garden, and I must say it was an absolutely dreadful experience. It’s a shamed that I booked this hotel for my family. I have made an advance payment of Rs. 20,000 for my room reservation. However, after my children reviewed the guest comments on TripAdvisor regarding this hotel, particularly cleanliness and other relevant basic requirements and prior to our arrival I inform the hotel reception to consider these comments and address the highlighted shortcomings before our arrival. After long drive we checked into the room, and we encountered several issues: Room Issues 1. Room Odor: The room had a bad smell, making it unpleasant to stay in. 2. Shower Problems: Although hot water was available, it did not mix properly with normal water, making it very uncomfortable to have a shower. Dining Issues: 1. For dinner, we ordered seafood fried rice. However, it was served with fish bones mixed in, making it very difficult to eat. 2. For breakfast the next day, Sri Lankan food was served, including string hoppers and crab curry. Shockingly, the crab curry contained live ants. When we informed the service staff, they apologized and removed the curry. Swimming Pool: 1. The swimming pool was full of fallen tree leaves and was not cleaned, making it unfit for use. I reported all these issues to the hotel management, but the response was dismissive, and the manager provided irrelevant and unsatisfactory answers. We stayed at this hotel were overwhelmingly dissatisfied with its quality and services, finding it so poor that it does not even meet the basic standards expected of a 1-star hotel, despite being advertised online as a much higher 4-star property; essentially, the guests believe this hotel is significantly misrepresented in its advertised rating. The property is poorly maintained, and the room rates are extremely unreasonable, offering no value for money. I cannot recommend this hotel to anyone due to the sheer negligence in maintaining basic standards of hygiene and service.

We had a bad experience due to the lack of cleanliness in rooms.water pressure is too bad.balcony is full of dirt and not cleaned at all.mini bar’s door is full of mold.dust,dead bugs and cobwebs are everywhere.we got misled due to the wrong ratings saw in the internet. Less worth for price.l would not recommend the place at all. You can have a complaining and stressful vacation 🙄 They need more caring and cleaning before marketing the hotel.l have attached the pic of the minibar.

Terrible service. Badly managed hotel. Rooms are somewhat ok but Restuarent and outer area very unclean.Very unprofessional service. Some staff may be the owners don’t know how to behave and use their language in front of the guests. We were really embarrassed.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel and we were so sad to leave this beautiful place! All staff was so friendly and the swimming pool was the best we’ve had during our journey in Sri Lanka. The owner of the hotel also supports great projects for animals and he has a very nice dog called “Kay”. He was really the star of the hotel 😁 Rooms are clean with airconditioning and breakfast is good. Anuradhapura town is 5-7 kilometers with car/tuktuk but that was no issue for us. You will enjoy such a quiet place surrounded by nature after exploring the crowded city. Definitely recommend this address!

The pictures are not true, the hotel is still under construction. Very bad place overall. Though the room is nice, it has not been cleaned in a LONG time. Pictures are misleading. Scrap junk is almost all over the place. It's very hard to find especially in the night. Not recommended.

January 2023 - this was our second visit to Hotel 4 U Saliya Garden and I'm so glad we came back! The staff were just as inviting and friendly as I remember them, attending to our every need and request. The breakfast provided was so delicious and they served so many yummy fruit drinks made from the garden on site! My favourite was the watermelon drink that I had been waiting to have again since the first time I stayed here, the pineapple drink they served before breakfast was delightful as well!! The food options are all mouth-watering and the portion sizes were generous. Everything in the rooms was very comfortable and I instantly felt at home. The facilities were all very well maintained and the staff were incredibly hospitable in every way. The most notable accomodating thing they did for us was set up a space below the main dining area (which is above ground) for my grandfather who cannot climb steps easily. For every meal, they took the time to clean and set up the area below the deck for us to sit and eat there just like anyone else and my grandfather was incredibly appreciative. The owner was one of the most wonderful people I've ever met. He is very passionate and does a lot of charity work throughout Sri Lanka and Anuradhapura. He takes the time to talk to everyone, particularly my grandfather who loves to talk and get to know people. When we mentioned to him that we were going to donate and give out food parcels and kids' school items for poorer families, he also mentioned a woman whose family needed help and also gave us the number of a place where lots of kidney dialysis patients were living and in need of help. Because of him we were able to visit this place and spend some time with the patients, get involved a lot with charity for them and we are forever grateful for that. The owner is also very environmentally friendly and has installed a lot of solar panels to not just save money but also help the environment! When visiting Anuradhapura I never have to look for a place to stay anymore, I know without a doubt that this is where I want to be.
