I didn’t love it. There was good communication before I arrived. I was able to change my reservation from two nights to one without issue. I told them when I would be arriving. When I did, there was no room ready. I expected it because it was early. She said she would text me when the room was ready, but she never did. I asked for a massage, and she said she would try for the next morning and let me know. She also said I could check out a bit late to make it work. I never heard from her. I asked the next morning, and she said she wasn’t able to book me a massage appointment. I then asked for a late check out, nonetheless, and was given 30 minutes. The breakfast is so underwhelming. The food wasn’t great. The servers could not have been less interested in engaging or helping. I didn’t receive the first course and asking for a juice made me feel like a nuisance. I returned around 1 am the night before to find all the doors locked. People should be given advanced notice of this policy. Arriving alone and finding doors locked to your hotel is anxiety inducing. I knocked and finally got let inside. The room was fine. The bed was really comfortable. But I was so underwhelmed compared to the cost. It was not remotely worth the expense. I’ve stayed in luxury hotels around the world, and this was not one of them. The location is convenient, and I walked everywhere without issue. But I would not stay here again. The vibe was off, the rooms nothing special, and the staff left a lot to be desired.

This hotel has so much potential but so badly managed and poorly maintained. We had booked three nights and only stayed one; Here are some of the reasons: 1. The pool doesn’t work (they never informed us of this nor published it on any of the sites) 2. When we arrived to our room, we noticed the AC was making some really weird noises and not cooling (thank goodness it wasn’t summer otherwise it would have been a sauna in there) . We called reception at night but it wasn’t fixed and we had to spend the night hearing the equivalent to an engine inside our room. 3. If you are brave enough to stay here MAKE SURE YOUR ROOM DOESNT FACE THE STREET, otherwise be ready to be awake at 4:00 am by drunk people and passing cars. 4. In the morning I was taking a shower and noticed the water wasn’t draining properly, then I noticed the mold (caused by the lack of proper drainage) My husband asked the hotel manager (Marco Vinicio) for a room change. It took him 5 hours to give us an answer (even though we checked with him 3 times during the morning). At the end, the change couldn’t happen. We then proceeded to book at Casa Santo Domingo (which is AMAZING by the way) and the manager told us we needed to contact Booking directly if we wanted to get reimbursed. I showed him Booking’s policies online, which clearly stated that it is up to the hotel to give the reimbursement, he said that’s not how they do it. I then proceeded to call Booking so they could request the reimbursement (like he had asked me to do) and after getting an email from Booking, he then proceeded to say they could not do it. This whole ordeal was now on its 6th hour. During this time other guests complained about BUGS on their beds. I asked the to talk to Jessica Lopez (who is the sales manager) and she refused to talk to me - in person or over the phone. By this time, Marco Vinicio was literally hiding on the second floor where I had to go get them. Even the guy from Booking (who stayed on the phone with me for about an hour) was in shock about how badly they were handling the situation. This was such an anticipated vacation, my husband and I had been planning it for a year and they managed to ruin it.

El Convento is a lovely hotel. The locataion is great and the hotel itself is superbly decorated. There are so many places to sit away from all of the other guests. The rooms are comfortable, the food is good and the staff could not be more helpful. I have been twice and look forward to going again. Ariana at the front desk is awesome!

This hotel is beautiful throughout. The lovely garden, fountains, and small pool create a welcoming and peaceful atmosphere. Our room opened onto a small private garden that was so pretty. I highly recommend the hotel and hope to return soon!

The aesthetics of the hotel was amazing. The staff was friendly and overall the hotel was a vibe. Couldn’t give a 5 because the room temperature was a study 72/74 degrees even when set to 60. We could not sleep under the thick blanket or we would be sweating. TV only had 1 English channel but it wasn’t a deal breaker. There are apps on TV for Netflix, Disney Plus if you wish to log on. WiFi was decent during the stay. Check In and Check Out was seamless. The staff spoke English and was welcoming. They assisted in getting us a taxi can for dinner. Short walks from center restaurants. We took taxis at night. The property is gorgeous.

Beautiful elegant place! Lovely stay! Highly recommended. Perfect location… Roof top dipping pool has a great view. Excellent helpful staff. Wine happy hour is top notch wine and cheese. Can attend mass across the street at the cathedral. Shops and habit walkable.

The best kept secret in Antigua! The restaurant has incredible food. Great architecture, it makes you travel in time. Personel at the hotel are very friendly and helpfull. Also liked the great location. Allows to walk to near attractions.

Wow! El Convento may be in my top 3 hotels I’ve ever stayed at. Conveniently located in a quiet corner in Antigua, close to the city center, near restaurants and bars. The room was comfortable and the staff were friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend!
