The Island View - A1

What a lovely place to stay. It is in the middle of nowhere but it was brilliant. Simon and his family made us very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was very nice and clean, with beautiful views.

We had the pleasure of attending the premises whilst on holiday ,we went for an evening meal.(and i reiterate the word pleasure because it was ) We along with extended family were staying at the Haven Caravan site at Haggerston Castle. We found the pub very welcoming ,it was cosy and clean and the staff were attentive , friendly and the prices were reasonable. There was four adults in our party and because of our different tastes we all finished up ordered something different yet the meals arrived quickly, hot, substantial and very tasty. Part way through the meal towards the end ,the staff were eager to see if we had enjoyed the meal and if all was ok,which it was. The only criticism i can level at the pub was,we called again the following evening and it was closed despite the website stating it was open. In conclusion we would definitely recommend paying a visit i don't think you will be disappointed.

We stayed in a family room (double & two single beds) along with the family dog. We had great views from our room, which was a good size. The double bed was comfortable, but the mattresses on the single beds were not very good, so we had to adapt bedding accordingly (we did ask for additional duvet covers to help rectify this, but they were not forthcoming). We had breakfast on both days (vegetarian – options were different on each day). The food was very good and the service was excellent. We would have liked to stay for an evening meal, but we needed free internet access in order to plan for our ongoing trip (at the time of our stay, BT had not been able to resolve the issue). As others have mentioned, the inn is located on the A1, but we were not bothered by the traffic.
