Hotel a 4 stelle popolari a Ancon

My wife and I visited Panama for the very first time in March 2023. We selected this hotel for part of our stay due to its location close to the city, close to the canal, and because it had an on-site golf course. When we travel I like to play while my wife likes to sit at the pool. My poor experience with this hotel started before I even arrived. Despite making several inquiries about tee time availability, I received no response from contact methods listed on their website. This didn’t deter me too much as I have played all over the world and have never had issues being fit in as a single player. The lack of customer service also reared itself when my third party booking agent attempted to make inquiries to adjust our booking but also could not get In touch with anyone at the hotel. My disappointment grew when we booked into the hotel. I was immediately told that golf would not be available for the duration of my visit as the hotel was hosting a kids tournament. I was told more than once that they could not fit me in anywhere. ( even though the next 2 mornings I saw several people playing in the morning before the tournament was started) When I made on-site inquiries about adjusting the reservation, I was told a manager needed to be consulted. They proceeded to charge me for the entire reservation. The location is good for seeing the canal, and also convenient for some trips - I recommend visiting Monkey Island. The on site restaurant is very basic, and is barely above pub food. The breakfast bar is sufficient. My wife and I are avid runners but this location is not conducive for that. The roadway nearby has no shoulders and traffic in the area made the prospect of running far too dangerous. The hotel was also hosting a wedding during our stay so they cordoned off a large part of their outdoor area for that purpose which left the one available pool overcrowded with minimal sun beds for the rest of the guests. Given the above noted disappointments, my wife and I decided to check in to another hotel. I tried repeatedly to touch base with a manager to shorten our stay. Finally on the second day I spoke to one who seemed understanding to our grievances. We came to an agreement that I even though we were checking out after 2 days, I would pay for a third, and he in turn would not charge me for the last day of our original reservation. He said it may take some time for my account to be credited. When I checked out, I asked for a receipt, and was, again, told that a manager would have to do that when they got in. A month after our stay, and after several attempts to reach the hotel, some correspondence which was responded to, the hotel has yet to issue a credit, and they have pretty much had zero dialogue. Although, we very much enjoyed our trip to Panama and will be making a return in the near future, we will not be going back to this hotel.

This is a good mid range Marriott in Panama City, attached to the Albrook Mall, less than 30 mins from airport and maybe 15 mins to Casco Veija and the Canal. Rooms were good size and better than the pics on line. King bed was pretty comfortable, room on 8th floor but overlooked the regional airport. No mini bar, but ice machine on floor together with cold water and room service available. They also had a small convenience shop downstairs where you could buy soda and snacks and take back to the room. Did not bother including breakfast in the booking. There is a small breakfast place attached to the hotel and the mall, Cafe Met, where they serve good breakfasts, pastries and coffee. Much cheaper than the restaurants in the hotel. I believe Cafe Met is actually part of the hotel. We arrived late the first night and ate in the main restaurant in the hotel, Canal Bistro. it was OK. But we ate out all the other nights. There is also a nice bar down stairs. We did not use this, however. Front desk was helpful as was the concierge with recommendations for restaurants and things to see. They have a tour desk in lobby, that offers competitive tours for the city, canal, museums, Casco Veija, marina and surrounding areas, plus transport to the airport. Stayed here for 3 nights as stopover on way to Costa Rica. Nothing to do in the immediate area, other than the mall and regional airport, but much cheaper to stay here and to use cabs from hotel to get where we wanted to go, than stay close to the attractions. Good hotels in the tourist areas and business district are very expensive. All in all, good place to stay if you don't mind being out of the main tourist areas.

I had the best time staying at this hotel. The rooms were always clean and fresh. The staff was very pleasant and friendly and always ready to assist. Some notable mentions include the chief concierge Diana, who ensured that all my tours were on schedule, and who would have arranged a special birthday surprise in my room. The Canal bistro was always open on time for breakfast with exceptional service from the staff especially José and Fabio who were very pleasant and professional in performing their duties. Dinner in the Ancon Hill restaurant was also very good with excellent food and remarkable service from Sergio who was very warm, friendly and professional. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and my wife and I will definitely stay here again on our return visit to Panama.

Se non fosse per la piscina, avrei dato un rating più alto. Ho soggiornato all'hotel per 11 notti. Non mi sono lamentato di questo perché avevo una bella grande stanza, tutto era pulito e il personale era piacevole e utile. La zona di piscina, purtroppo, fa molto male l'hotel, e questo è perché c'era una piscina che ho scelto di rimanere lì. Ho controllato con 2 persone diverse e hanno confermato che era parte dell'hotel. La piscina stessa era pulita, ma questo è tutto quello che posso dire è positivo. C'era un'erba artificiale che si scontrava con un pezzo di rottami su di essa, non c'erano letti solari (la foto è chiaramente fuori dal giorno), C’erano tre materassi vecchie, scratch e sporche, e le sedie di plastica bianche erano sporche, le screens che coprivano i pannelli di padella che circondano i lati erano sporche e avevano un po' di uccello su di loro, e ci erano erbacee. Interessante, nei fine settimana, quando ci erano tanti bordelli di padella, ombrelli solari, sedie pulite e un awning, è un peccato che gli ospiti dell'hotel, che pagavano per restare lì, non fossero stati trattati così bene. C'erano 1, a volte 2, uomini che lavoravano lì. Per ore al giorno, seduti a guardare i loro telefoni cellulari, facendo assolutamente nulla. Forse è solo per il gusto personale, ma la musica rumorosa dei due ristoranti ad esso vicini era terribile. Qualcuno deve guardare bene la zona della piscina, pulire e investire in alcuni letti solari, matite e sedie pulite. È necessario essere gestito attivamente piuttosto che lasciato per deteriorarsi. Avvertitevi: se si vuole un hotel con una bella piscina per rilassarsi accanto, e pace e tranquillità, andate da qualche parte.
