Le Clos de la Commanderie

We stayed at this b&b for two days. Excellent quiet location, as it is a 5 minutes walk to the Clos Lucé, and ＜10 minutes to the center of Amboise. The owner is very friendly and gave us a warm welcome, and some hints for visits, and good lunch/dinner opportunities. He is very knowledgable about history, arts and music (he is an orchestra conductor), and was always present during breakfast time. Talking about the breakfast, the choice is huge and the jams are house-made. The rooms (located under the roof) have been renovated recently (this is a commanderie that was reused by the Germans during WWII, and since then more or less abandoned), have AC and are comfortable. You will find a huge garden, a heated swimming pool, a table tennis table, and some more stuff. Overall, a great address to stay for one or more days at Amboise.

Do not rent from this owner!!! He is rude. He did not respond to our phone message for 3 days while we tried to find the location. Claimed he emailed us a picture of the location which we never got. When we did get a message from *********** it was in French. We were not able to locate the place even tho we followed all the Goggle map directions. And again no answer at the listed number. He ruined our stay in France. Unwilling to help us at all. !!

Je recommande cet hôte les yeux fermés. Nous arrivons à peine que nous nous sentons déjà à la maison. L’accueil est parfait. Thibault est une personne d’une gentillesse extrême, très serviable et aux petits soins. Passionné, il n’est pas avare de conseils et d’anecdotes en tout genre ce qui est plaisant quand on ne connaît pas la région. De plus, l’endroit est très bien situé. N’hésitez plus, vous pouvez aller lui rendre visite vous y serez reçus comme des rois. Mille fois merci !!!!

L’accueil par notre hôte Thibaut est tout simplement exceptionnel, à tel point qu’on se sent immédiatement chez soi. Le cadre est très agréable avec une belle piscine, calme et paisible. Notre chambre était spacieuse et très confortable. Enfin quel plaisir d’échanger au petit déjeuner avec notre hôte, véritable érudit en histoire de l’art. Un séjour inoubliable à recommander vivement.
