Água Hotels Alvor Jardim

Very good value hotel in a good location for Alvor  Nice pool and a very good buffet breakfast  The Hotel has a pool and parking make sure you get a room with a balcony otherwise the room would be too cramped

I’ve just stayed here for 10 nights with my partner from the end of July to August. First impressions, we were greeted by a very friendly, smiley man on reception who came down the steps and carried our bags into the hotel for us, before checking us in. The hotel itself was lovely. It’s in a great location where you can walk down to the centre of Alvor and be in the centre of all the shops and restaurants in 2-3 minutes. There are also supermarkets nearby, Intermarché at the bottom of the hill and slightly closer to Alvor Jardim is Pinga Doce. The breakfast buffet at Alvor Jardim catered to lots of different needs, there was cooked breakfast (eggs, sausage, bacon, beans etc), a selection of breads, pastries, cereals, yoghurt, fruit, cheeses and meats and equally a wide selection of hot and cold drinks. The pool bar opened 11am-6pm which was good. They served cold drinks, alcohol, some cocktails and food that you may enjoy for lunch such as toasties, burgers, salads, fruit salad etc. Although it sounds picky, we would have liked more ice cream/ ice lolly choices at the pool bar as we were restricted to tubs of Ben & Jerry’s. Adding smoothies/ milkshakes to the menu would also be a nice touch! The pool area (baby pool and larger pool) was lovely and relaxing to sit around. We got a subbed each everyday, however on a busy day if you came down later in the day around lunchtime, you may struggle to get a sun bed. The hotel could benefit from having a few more available, should people need them in peak times, as there was space on the grass for people to sunbathe. The hotel room itself was appealing and always kept clean. The cleaners did a fantastic job and cleaned our room everyday (including Sunday’s) which we thought was great! The air con in the room was brilliant. The only criticism we would give is, some days when we wanted a lie in, we were disturbed by loud chatting from the cleaners, this was at around 8.30-9am and I wouldn’t have mentioned this but it did happen a few times. Apart from that, they were excellent. The room was lovely, we had a balcony that looked out onto the road with a gorgeous sea view. The bed was comfy, there was a safe included with the room, free of charge which was handy! There was also a mini fridge to store our drinks in. I would’ve liked a bit of a larger fridge but I think that’s because I have previously stayed in apartments where this is available. Saying that, you can fit the 6 litre bottle of water in the fridge, along with a few other beverages. I would’ve also really liked a drying rack on the balcony to dry any wet swimwear / beach towels on, however this wasn’t the end of the world as we put them on the table / over the balcony and they dried. We also felt the room would benefit from having storage underneath the bed to store your suitcases out of the way. Overall, these slight tweaks are minor and we were very happy with our stay at Água Hotels Alvor Jardim and would recommend to other people!
