We selected Alma Shore Lane Suites and Cottages based on availability; there aren’t a lot of places to stay in Alma, even when booking over four months out. Our “suite” was the Lobster Den. Not really a suite, more of an average size, basic motel room with a small sofa and a barely functional kitchenette. The “kitchenette” included a small dorm size refrigerator, which was very noisy with constant near death sounding thuds, gurgles, and wheezing; a small under powered microwave; and a barely functioning Krueg coffeemaker (not a Krueg fan). A good amount of flatware, glasses, bowls and plates are provided, but no counter space for preparation. There isn’t a kitchen sink, so water would normally be sourced from the bathroom, except Alma is under almost constant boil water restrictions, so a five gallon water dispenser is provided. It’s easier to get water for kitchen use from the dispenser, but it took up the only possible kitchenette working space. The bathroom is small and basic with no counter space. The Lobster Den has NO air circulation to speak of and no air conditioning. Windows barely open and one wouldn’t close. ( I will also note, even though we we were there in stifling summer heat and humidity, I saw no source of room heating, except maybe the fake plug-in electric fireplace . ) A provided floor fan was broken.
