Lys-Na-Greyne

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Lys-Na-Greyne for my wedding, it was the perfect place to get ready for the day. We booked out the full B&B - the building and gardens are just beautiful. Every room is spacious and maintained to an impeccable standard. The 'honeymoon' suite had everything we could ask for - large room; stunning bathroom with a large roll top bath, his and her sinks and large shower and a walk in wardrobe to store my dress - it was perfect! Joyce and Garry are truly fantastic hosts, who are passionate about Lys-Na-Greyne; local food; the countryside and providing a brilliant service. They are genuine, warm and welcoming hosts from the second you meet them. And the the food was absolutely delicious! The breakfast has a number of options to choose from, sourced from the local area. It outperformed 5 star hotels that we have visited! Joyce and Garry also provided a buffet meal for us one evening, which was also fantastic, and was completed last minute, which was even more impressive! This was based on platters that are offered and we would highly recommend adding this on as part of the stay. Furthermore, each afternoon there was a freshly baked cake available as well - just brilliant. As much as we want to keep Lys-Na-Greyne a secret from travellers, so we can book again in the future, we won't do that and would definitely recommend this wonderful B&B to anyone looking to stay in Aboyne, or surrounding areas. Having this as our base for our wedding made the few days in the run up absolutely perfect and we'll forever be grateful to Joyce and Garry for the memories they helped create. We can't thank them enough!

Lys-Na-Greyne is not just a place to sleep but, rather, a total experience unto itself. This home is a masterpiece of understated elegance and historical charm that is just large enough to feel somewhat opulent (there are 2 pianos - one a grand) yet it is small enough to feel intimate and cozy. The riverbank location is lush and overlooks the Dee and an expansive valley with mountains in the distance and it is perfectly situated as a home base for exploring all that the Highlands have to offer. But what really animates this place is the warmth and energy of the the hosts who made us feel like part of their family.I could regale you with a list of all the little details and accoutrements they have assembled for the enjoyment of guests but that would deprive you of the pleasure in discovering them yourselves (not least of which is the epic breakfast offering). So book this right away but do not make the same mistake we did which was to stay only 2 nights. I recommend at least 3 or 4 nights so you can really settle in and experience all that Lys-Na-Greyne has to offer.

There aren’t enough adjectives in the English language to adequately describe my experience at Lys Na Greyne. Joyce is a supreme hostess. Elegant and down to earth, she welcomed us warmly, attended to every comfort and yet never was intrusive. Gary is an incredible chef and breakfast was incredibly delicious, the jams were superior. Never have I experienced such truly lovely accommodations and the view defies words. Simply put, I didn’t want to leave this idyllic place and will dream of the time I spent there forever! Thank you.

Wow! The most incredible stay at this beautiful bed and breakfast! Our only regret is we only stayed for two nights! A wonderful welcome, very comfortable, clean and incredibly beautiful and relaxing accommodations. Joyce gave us many wonderful suggestions on where to visit and restaurants to try. The breakfast was so delicious! I am a foodie, and everything was so fresh and delicious! I would go to back to Scotland in a heartbeat just to stay at this lovely accommodation! We keep going back. That should indicate how good it is to stay at Lys Na Greyne. Unmatched hospitality from Joyce & Garry. Spotlessly clean throughout. Breakfast is out of this world. Try a platter for your evening meal. Try Garry's award winning marmalade & jams. Stay once and you'll want to return. Wonderful gardens and spacious secluded car parking. Very few places have this effect on us. But this is a real jewel of a place.

This isn't just a B&B it is a luxury experience! This spectacular house is surrounded by beautiful gardens which are right on the banks of the River Dee and have superb views beyond making it the most tranquil of locations. The house is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean with meticulous attention to detail and the food is so delicious. Joyce and Garry are the icing on the cake, being the most wonderful kind hosts. We cannot recommend highly enough.

Last year, my husband and I discovered Lys-Na-Greyne and were so enchanted by the elegant room, superb breakfast, pristine gardens and the blissful sound of the River Dee from our window that we returned this year. Because we loved our room and its view of the gardens, we actually altered our plans in order to reserve it again. Joyce and Garry are exceptional hosts and catered to our every need. We plan to make our stay there every year. Their detail to conservation and preservation of our planet was an added plus, and we commend them for their efforts. Our stay in Lys-Na-Greyne was just perfect. What a beautiful house where we had a fantastic spacious room with a comfortable bed, a large modern bathroom with a geat walk-in shower. The hosts Joyce and Garry are so nice, the breakfasts are stunning with so many choices and the home made marmelades the best we ever had. Every day a fresh cake is served with tea in the afternoon if you like and the honesty bar had all you need. We recommend to stay one evening "at home" (you feel at home), because Joyce and Garry offer 3 different kinds of cold platters, also prepared as all the other things with much love and wines are also available. To come back is a must because this wonderful place is perfect to relax.
