Tropical Sol

Been coming to the Tropical Sol for years as have many of the guests here. There has been a few upgrades to the rooms ie: new patio doors, sun beds to some of the rooms and shower and soap dispensers. Everything you would need as well equipped kitchen with halogen rings and microwave/oven. Rooms cleaned daily as are towels replaced daily. Can not fault the room attendants here, always pleasant and with a smile. Paulo and Marisa the Admin reception staff second to none, go above and beyond to help if they can. They are always glad to see you back and always remember you. Personal touch. Pablo the pool guy/maintenance again always happy to greet you with a smile and any questions asked always gets it done. The snack bar again reasonable costs and food is excellent as are the drinks. The owners Natalia and Francisco always happy to help and give excellent service. Already booked for next year can’t wait to come back. 5*.

Had an amazing four week stay in the tropical sol very comfortable one bedroom apartment friendly staff and fabulous maid service everyday bar staff were a joy great location two mins from an amazing bakery and 5 mins from pingo dolce supermarket would highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable relaxing holiday all apartments have a pool view .

The hotel stinks from the minute we walked in then the rude staff then the shortage of beds 2 single beds and a double bed for a family of 6 the lady at the front said that was what I paid for and they don't have 3 bedrooms it's basically 6 adults as all the kids are teen then the very slender sofa that can't even fit a bag. but I'll take it up with easyJet there was nothing no ironing facilities barely any cups or utensils 1 single blanket for the 2 boys in the front room although there was no beds just a floor mattress and a sofa

We stayed at Tropical Sol on the 1st April til 8th April 2025 and had stayed here before about 10 years ago. Firstly Tropical Sol is in a great location less than 5 minutes walk to the New ***** and about 15/20minute walk to the Old Town (not even 5minutes in an uber - super cheap). When we went into the apartment it seemed like it is a lot more outdated and run down in comparison to the first time we stayed. Unsure whether it could have been that we were in a different apartment than the last time. Or it could be that we haven’t been there in so long that we noticed such a huge difference. In the bathroom, there was a strange damp kind of smell. I noticed the taps/shower head were tarnished, could do with replacing. We needed more towels and I rang to reception, she told me that the cleaners don’t usually replace towels more than twice a week. We did eventually get more, however I would highly advise to bring your own as the towels Tropical Sol provide you with are hard and uncomfortable to get dried with. I went straight to the balcony and we had a great view over the pool - all rooms are pool view - some better than others. The balcony could do with an upgrade even a bit of paint. We stayed in room 109 and struggled to sleep a few nights as there was a lot of noise outside our room from people coming in late. The first time we stayed in Tropical Sol we never had any issues with noise, however I think as we were in the floor below this time it was totally different. There isn’t much for kids to do apart from the pool - which is always freezing cold. They have a small games room, which has a pool table, football table and one other game and you have to pay to use them. It is safe to say we won’t be returning to Tropical Sol Apartments again. May be suited to some people but definitely not us.

First solo trip and booked through Hayes who recommended. Never been to Portugal and wanted something quiet and friendly. This is exactly the right location, staff extremely helpful. Lots of regulars stay here and bar staff knew them all. Walked to old town everyday and although weather was unpredictable the sight seeing is exceptional. Hotel/Apt is throughly clean.

Almost 6 years since my husband and I stayed here and it was even better than we remembered, breakfast was always prepared and served fresh by a lovely young lady Manook (I apologise if I have spelt your name wrong). My daughter booked this for my birthday and I could not have wished for a better present. This was our 30th time staying in Portugal as it is our favourite destination. The weather was really bad for the full 5 days we were there, but even that did not spoil our holiday, we ate every night straight opposite the hotel at Fat Cats I must admit I ordered the same meal every night as it was delicious, but my husband had 4 different meals and enjoyed every one . We always tip for good service and when we tipped Manook and told her we were going home the next morning at 8am she opened the breakfast hall at 7.30 and cooked us a beautiful full english which we thought was above and beyond her job she is a real credit to this hotel. Hoping to return soon to this BRILLIANT hotel. MISS IT ALREADY.
