Hotel do Cerro

Very friendly family run hotel. Stayed on B&B basis which we found suited our needs as we were meeting friends who were staying another location. The system of choosing breakfast each morning worked well, fast efficient table service. If there was anything to complain about was the toast, this was always cold and under done. The hotel was located at the highest point possible not recommended for anyone with mobility issues, although once you got your breath back after climbing the hills the view over Albufeira was beautiful. Rooms not luxurious but serviced daily. Beds were slightly hard for my liking. Entertainment in the bar most nights not fantastic but enough background music to relax to. Pedro the barman was very friendly, always had time for a chat. Would recommend the hotel if you want a relaxing holiday spent around the pool but be prepared to walk about 15 minutes to the square or use a taxi

Lovely hotel . Very chilled atmosphere , the ladies on reception were so helpful and friendly. The cocktail bar and rooftop bar are very clean and modern . Our room was cleaned regularly.. Breakfast was beautiful every day and extremely generous portions! I loved that this hotel was accessible to the old town but away from the hectic night scene.. recommend downloading the uber app for transport as the prices are extremely fair . The bar staff are lovely and friendly and the entertainment was great. The only negative was the flies at our balcony but we bought a citronella candle from the wee supermarket (4min walk) and that helped a lot. Air conditioning was great and English tv channels .

We stay for week at the end of March and really enjoyed our stay. The room was spotlessly clean and well maintained and cleaning throughout the week was great. We loved the breakfast! The tick box system worked very well. I prefered this to buffet style as there's much less food waste and food is hot. The quality was excellent and efficiently served. The staff on breakfasts were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Other staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful too. We didn't use the pool as we prefer to be out exploring or on the beach but from what we could see, the pool area was a good size with plenty of sunbeds. The high location of the hotel meant we had a lovely view down to the sea. It is on hill but so is most of the old town. There are many routes down and it takes 5 minutes or so to get to the beach front lift. Overall we really rated this friendly hotel and the staff highly and would certainly stay there again on our next visit. We loved this area of the Algarve.

Quite disappointing for a rated 4* hotel, which is more of a 3 at most. Hotel is on a very very steep hill, so infirm be aware and also if you don’t want to walk to the town which is an approx 10min HIKE!. While the hotel staff were polite and welcoming, the facilities, services, and general quality of the accommodation were wholly inadequate. The issues we encountered included: Mis-sold upgraded sea view: We paid extra for an upgraded sea view, but the view was almost entirely obstructed by a large tree (see attached photo). The balcony was extremely small—around 1m²—making it effectively unusable. Lack of basic amenities: No tea or coffee facilities were provided, and we were told we would need to rent a kettle at an additional charge. This is unacceptable for a hotel advertised as 4*. Broken facilities: The hairdryer did not work at all (I have a video of this. On one of the days, there was no hot water for several hours, causing significant inconvenience. Poor breakfast quality: Breakfast was of very low standard, both in variety and quality, not reflecting what should be expected from a hotel of this rating. No fresh towels provided: At no point during our four-night stay were fresh towels offered or delivered. This was inconvenient and raised genuine hygiene concerns, as guests should reasonably expect clean towels daily in a 4* hotel. Overpriced and unrealistic spa & gym facilities: The spa and gym, which were promoted as part of the hotel, were completely additional and charged at unrealistic prices. This created the impression of more facilities than were genuinely available. Noise disturbance: Early morning drilling by workmen disturbed our sleep on multiple mornings, with no prior warning to guests. Inconvenience and discomfort: Only one room key card was issued, and the bed was extremely hard and uncomfortable.

Although it's advertised as a 4-star hotel, the overall experience suggests it fits better in the 3-star category. The room visibly old, with noisy beds and worn-out bathrooms. ​One of the most frustrating points is the policy of extra charges. Basic items like a kettle and pool towels, which are usually included in hotels of this category, are charged separately. What is described as a "spa" is, in reality, just a tank of water, and its cost is inexplicably higher than that of a similar service in a 5-star luxury hotel. ​However, there is an undeniable positive point: the staff. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful, and the fact that they all speak Portuguese is a plus that makes communication much easier and more pleasant.

Every aspect of the hotel that could possibly make it worth the 4 star price is an extra cost. For example, if you want fresh towels daily it is an additional charge. Another example is paying 25 euros for an hours worth of jaccuzi. They are openly ripping their own customers off. It feels like a budget hotel; shower gels are given and are about 10ml and upon my 4 night stay that 10ml was all we got. Rooms are dated too if thats not your style. Even the pool bar/restaurant is ripping you off. It is more expensive to eat and drink there than at one of the lovely bars on the old town square. Why would a hotel rip their own customers off? Very frustrating and as a travel agent i shall not be booking my customers there.
