We went as a group of 10 (8 adults 2 children) in the February half term, so probably the hotels busiest week. We did not have any queues before dinner, in fact you can simply ask reception to reserve you a table each night (there was a big table that sat 10 people so they reserved this for us every night with no problem) and they will hold it for you until 7:30pm. Food was always hot, varied and different special dish each night- yes there could have been more meat but there was enough options. On our first night they did beef, another night lamb, then chilli burritos and gnocchi which was all hot and tasty. Breakfast also very good and lots of options. Yes rooms are small but they are very transparent about this as the room size is written in the description of the rooms when you book- so really don’t know why people are so shocked! This is truly a ski in ski out and really handy having the shop in the boot room- FYI if you hire your skis directly with skiset online and not through Crystal you’ll save some money as they mark up. Same with lift passes - do it direct online with la plagne it’s cheaper and they post them to you. Staff were all friendly to us so we didn’t experience any issues with this. Check in- we arrived about 9pm so rooms were ready to check in immediately. They also had food ready for us in the restaurant so our check in experience was positive. You can also check in online a few days before to save time. The only negatives for us: - wait time for collecting skis on first morning was circa 45 mins HOWEVER it was half term week so was expected. Perhaps the hotel should strongly encourage those who arrive earlier on the day before they ski to collect equipment the day before to limit the queue in morning. - a couple of nights during dinner, the staff seemed to rile up the kids creating a lot of screaming and noise which was unpleasant during dinner time but as soon as we asked for the noise to be kept down it was. - unbelievably there are a large number of children running riot until 10:30/11pm, running up and down the stair wells, up and down corridors, which kept us awake however we were in the first room next to the stairs/lift, so if you want to get an early night then I would put in a preference for a room further down the corridor and you’ll probably be ok. - there aren’t huge numbers of quiet areas to sit in the evening to play cards etc, but we did manage to get a table every night in the closed off lounge area. There is very noisy kids events every evening around 8-9pm in the big theatre area but in the lounge part it wasn’t too loud. Overall this was a good experience good hotel, and I would recommend to anyone looking for a ski holiday in a brilliant ski in ski out location and a comfy bed to sleep in with lots of decent food!

One of the worst experience with the hotel. Staff try their best, however with extremely poor management, I do feel very sorry for them. We were in a large group and they clearly had no idea on how to deal with such large group. Many of the folks in our group had food poisoning. Room temperature are controlled by the manager over an App. I just wonder what else can he control in the room. We were on full board basis, however the management decided to serve one drink per person at the bar. This ment a huge rush at the bar, as everyone had to line up to get a drink and there were 2 or 3 poor waiters behind the bar, whilst the Manager is overlooking outside the bar and keeping an eye on the staff and customer. Hotel is so big, but clearly under staffed. Reception is only open for few hours a day and when you ring the hotel, the message says, "unfortunately due to very successful performance of their business, they can't manage to take any calls" or to that effect. I don't know who or which group owns this hotel, but I seriously suggest a change of management.

We went with Chrystal and they were absolutely brilliant particularly as we were caught up in the boulder incident and arrived 4 hrs late. Despite that though we still had to wait 90 minutes to check in as that is at 6pm which is ridiculous. Some reviews say they have no idea how this is a 4 star hotel well that's because it's not it's 3 star with 4 star review rating so you have to judge it on that. Same goes for the ****** that complain the rooms are small, look at the photos it's obvious they are small but another foot or 2 all round would have made a lot of difference. Beds were clean and comfy and got turned over 3 times I think in our week, shower was roomy and powerful. Our heating was fine but our bathroom rad was about 300 degrees so I think that warmed up the whole area, the radiator in the room never seemed to be on. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and the on site ski hire was handy and all our groups equipment was good. Boot room could be a little crowded at times and you might as well take your boots to your room as the heaters weren't on. Ski in/out is literally out the boot room door. There is a large terrace but bizarrely they don't allow boots in the bar next door so it's not great at lunch for a drink. Food was fine for a budget hotel brekky was the best much warmer than the evening meal and free wine which again was perfectly adequate for the price. It's very much a family orientated hotel though ideal for those with kids not that any of them bothered us. For a 3 star it was fine.

Location- fantastic location. Ski straight out the boot room. Can get a short ski lift and slope to the centre or get the gondola from the hotel above. Very easy to access. Ski facilities- great ski hire facilities with large boot room. Every room has a place for 2 pairs of boots, skis and poles. Occasionally the boot room heaters did not work but we coped fine with night as you hung them upside down anyway. Very busy at peak times but can easily avoid as this is expected with a hotel of this size. Rooms- nicely decorated with window, en-suite and a cupboard. Rooms are a little on the smaller size but it appears they have updated the photos to reflect this. Service- all staff were friendly and helpful. Food- food was great. In the evenings, there are always options of pizza, pasta, cheese, salad and bread and then they do different special dishes each night (e.g. steak, chips, veg, fish, chicken, stew, potatoes, etc). Pudding is downstairs with cheese and ice cream always available. You have different puddings each night, like tarts, tiramisu, crumble, etc. You also have access to juice, wine or water. Breakfast is pancakes, bread, sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, cereals, fruit and more. Overall, food is fantastic!!!!!!!!!! I am unsure why other guests have moaned about it! Overall experience- would highly recommend to anyone and everyone. We will definitely be returning!

On arrival: Due to a major incident which closed the road to the hotel we left Gatwick a day late and already tired of spending a day waiting around first at the airport, then on the plane then transferred to hotel and the next day back to the airport and finally got an afternoon flight out. Arrived late in the evening due to the road closures and expected some form of welcome, hot food and a bit of pampering due to all the delays. No chance, only two staff on reception when we had 50 people to check in. Some of our group who arrived in the morning ended up having to help the staff so they can process. Cold boring food in the restaurant with limited vegetarian and vegan options even though we had told the hotel weeks in advance and a few days before arrival that we where a party of 70 plus mostly vegetarian and some vegan's. Apparently made no difference, limited choice and cold food. Bar Staff: RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. we had an all inclusive package and again as there were so many of us often we would be in the bar at the same time. Trying to order a round of drinks meant by the time they managed to serve the last drink the first person would already have finished his/her drinks. The staff where rude, making issues that we were ordering too may drinks? Huh we are 70 + people and yes we like to drink ! At one point the bar person said to me new rule only ONE drink per person so I cannot order drinks for my wife who was sitting down at the time nor any of my friends they would have to come and order there own drinks. At which point I saw another bar person serve another guest (not part of our party) 3 drinks whilst one of managers was standing next to the guest. As soon as I made eye contact and complained and he realised they decided to change the policy. Restaurant: Very limited vegetarian food and always Luke warm at the best. Thank good for the microwave oven they provide. The only warm dish was the fresh pizza (they were good) but again we where not allowed to take a whole pizza even if 4 of us wanted to share one you had to come and pick your own slice. Cleanliness: Cutlery aways dirty, rooms just about acceptable, No shower gel or shampoo provided in the bathroom. Spa: Does one steam room and one sauna constitute a spa? Also one of bookings was cancelled for no reason and we only found out when we turned up. Told we had booked too many spa slots. Crystal: Sorry who are they ? Saw once on arrival and again at departure In essence in my 30 plus year of skiing the worst booking ever. We had used this hotel when it was a club med a few years earlier and expected a similar experience. They sold it as all incl package but never again.................

DON'T get put in room 243. The noise of the lift will keep you awake all night. Neither hotel or tour operator would move us. Not enough bar staff or places to sit comfortably in evenings. Good things about this hotel : Good location. Food excellent.

False advertising as definitely not 4* Reception manager was rude and unhelpful. All inclusive does not start till 6.00pm on day of arrival! Spa staff, rude and unprofessional. Didn’t allow us in for some slots even though they were pre booked already. Bar staff, avoided serving us because we were a big group. Restaurant had dirty cutlery all the time! Mourad (manager) would not allow us to make vegetarian pizzas. Even though we were all inclusive he denied us vegetarian pizzas as he said there were complaints from other guests? Then he suggested potato and salad was enough food for vegetarians. He was very rude to our group. Had sickness and diarrhoea bug going around, the GM was adamant it was not their food but did not offer to help any of those who were ill. We did hear of other people also sick. Possibly due to the food in the restaurant always being cold. They would not secure us an area for our big group even though they would for other groups, which can only be possible due to the colour of our skin!! Spend a little more and go to Club Med up the road!

Honestly, I don’t know how this hotel can be a 4*. But I’ll start with the good bits… We were a party of 8 and we really got lucky with the size of our room. Others were in a very tiny room and nowhere to put their bags. We had a spare bedroom with a single bed in it to put our suitcases, board bag etc. The view from our room was lovely and location was brilliant for ski in ski out. There is a free bus that goes into town opposite the hotel… definitely use it else you’ll be walking back in the dark. Showers were good. Bad bits … - Heating in the rooms hit and miss - the rooms had a sensor so unless you were walking around they did not come on. When they do come on they are set to 19°. - Nothing in the boot room was heated so may as well take your boots up to your room every night. - The ski room didn’t cater for boards and skis - we had both and had one hook so couldn’t leave the board our number. We have to lock it up with friends in a corner somewhere. - If you want to use the SPA , it’s not a spa. It has no pool or Jacuzzi. Just a sauna and steam room. You also need to take your own flip flops and own towel. None are provided for you and you are unaware of this until you are actually arrive at the hotel. - The food everyday whatever time of day was unfortunately cold. Hardly any meat either just vegetables made into a dish that are left over from the night before. - The bed sheets and pillow cases were dirty on arrival. - If you you’re up early and don’t go to bed late then this hotel isn’t for you. We had very inconsiderate people staying above us and you could hear everything all night and we didn’t sleep until gone midnight most nights. The rooms didn’t have phones to call reception and if you call on your mobile it says the reception is busy. So we had to repeatedly go up to the room and ask them to keep the noise down. - I thought majority of the staff here were quite rude especially on reception. If you are French and waiting at the bar you get served instantly. If you’re English prepare yourself for a long wait. - In a double you get two single beds that they say you can push together but they don’t give you a double sheet so you have a massive gap in between. So, pointless really. On the Saturday we arrived a boulder fell into the road and our transfer room 7 hours. Which of course wasn’t the fault of the hotels. On our final day our flight was 7pm we were picked up by crystal at 9am for our two hour transfer. We were at the airport extremely early and then our flight was delayed. We couldn’t check in our bags until 3 hours before our flight and this wasn’t explained to us before we got to the airport so we queued for an hour to be told no, you’re too early. Overall not a great experience from the hotel or Crystal and probably wouldn’t recommend either.

I’m not an avid review writer but try to do so if I feel the rating doesn’t reflect the hotel and if I think it would genuinely help people so here we are: In summary (to save the long read) Great location let down by food and expectation of 4*. Expect a 2/3* and you’ll be fine. Expect more and you’ll be disappointed. Pros: It is ski in ski out, quite literally, amazing location, lovely run behind the hotel and some easy blues adjacent. Cleanliness and room size, we had a ‘basement’ room which required two lifts to get too but was large with a separate spare room we used for luggage and the main bedroom, although I’m not sure the normal rooms have the same luck. Bar area, had plenty of seats, was clean and comfortable. Ski hire room, located in the hotel this was excellent and the esf school being on site was also great. Cons: It isn’t 4*, maybe 3*. No telephone or chair desk etc in the room. The room itself was not very clean on arrival, hairs on pillows etc and it looks dated. We had two singles pushed together and told they zip together to make a double but only had single bed sheets which were too short resulting in they constantly pinging off. Ski room didn’t really cater for snowboards, no racks to store or lock your own equipment too. Can become a zoo at busy periods. Staff, they are friendly enough but several times on our vacation we witnessed English speaking guests be pushed aside in favour of French, ourselves were waiting to be served only for a French speaking guest to get staff attention beforehand. The spa, you need your own flip flops and towel to use it, we didn’t bring either and we’re not told. The nearest shop for snacks, toiletries etc is the spar shop in the hotel above this on the slopes. Food: selection was broad but seemed to cater more to vegetarians even having a vegetarian only evening. Most of the food was Luke warm at best and mostly bland. 3 desert selections most evenings. Free red wine was good. Breakfast is the better meal of the day although couldn’t find a warm fried egg to save my life. Go early 7:30 to avoid long waits for coffee and food and to avoid the absolute chaos as children freely run around coughing and touching food. Be sure to make your baguette for lunch on the slopes but don’t get caught taking it, you can eat several hundred at breakfast without issue but make one for lunch and this is treated like ******. You can walk to La Plagne centre in 10 mins but the walk back is tiresome but the views are great.
