The rooms are beautiful and the view is to die for. Well worth the money for the accomadations. Standing in the balcony looking at the river and the mountains behind feels like a slice of heaven on earth. It's the first hotel on the trail to machu pichhu and the bus dropped us off right infront of the hotel. There's not a mosquito in sight and we didn't even need to turn on our air conditioning and left the balcony door open the entire night and fell asleep to the sound of the river. All we heard all night was the sound of the roaring river, no train, no bus. It is very far from the train tracks and I overslept several days because of the comfortable beds and silence. We had an issue with our reservation and the front desk manager, Rosa is incredible. She resolved our issue promptly and made my daughter's day by giving her a small Sumaq boutique bag, binoculars and a cap. Our train was leaving late afternoon and they had allowed us to check out late till 5:30pm without a charge !!!! The other staff at the front desk ( Vistoria and Ricardo) helped make this is a trip of a lifetime, arranging walking sticks, givning information about the butterfly garden. The complementary breakfast is elaborate, we didn't even need to have lunch. They have every possible breakfast food from pancakes to charcuterie and eggs your style and several other hot dishes. They have L'Occitane toileteries and I consider them to be at par with some of the other Belmond Hotels we have stayed at.
