Atlantica Amalthia Beach Hotel - Adults Only

We were at the "Old" side and have a tiny room with balcony. The lock of the balcony door was broken, but it would be waste of time to say about it: sure some others have done it before but nothing happened. Last days of season, so they have to change whole lock... But anyway it was second floor and we didnt left any property at the room, so we let it be. And still it safe in Greece. Hotel pool was not so clean and sunbeds were also dirty, we had our own big towels so it was okey. Beach area was clean and sunbeds quite good, but it cost 10 e a day, then you got 2 water bottle, fresh towel (2 day of 7) and some fruits if you were just on time.There should be a sign for other people that its 16+ and only hotel customers: outside people just come there and let children run and play beside hotell guests, not funny at all. Breakfast was very good and plenty of different kind of food to take. Staff were so tired and they started to say goid morning when we were saying, try to learn them to smile also, but only one could do that (the female). Reception persons were helpfull. Food at the pool bar/restaurant was okey, but one time have a hair in club sandwich. We have been now twice but not third time.

From the moment we checked in staff were very friendly. Hotel immaculately kept, we upgraded to a sea view room which was across the road in the newer part of the hotel, accessed by a bridge , lots of steps to get to our room 855 but lifts available. Room modern and comfortable, safe was available at no extra charge. Swimming pools lovely, 3 in total, 2 in newer block and 1 on the beach side. Buffet breakfast with plenty of choice, albeit some dishes a bit strange at breakfast but you won’t go hungry. We chose to go half board and dinner in evening is served at the beach front restaurant and is A la Carte, all restaurant staff looked after us extremely well and food was first class, special mention to Andreas who was very attentive. Chania is easily accessible by bus €2 each way, buses get very busy and sometimes if full don’t stop but buses seem to come about every 15-20 mins. We hired a car from the hotel who gave us recommendations on where to visit which was very useful and we saw some beautiful places. This hotel is a lovely hotel on a sandy beach and is well located for touring the island.

Me and my husband have just arrived home from a 7 night stay at Atlantica Amalthia. On arrival at 1am, we were shown to our room, where we had 2 bottles of water waiting in the fridge for us. We opted for a garden view room which was private, clean and comfortable, but it also dated and in need of some modernisation. We also found that the bathroom floor flooded whenever we showered. For these reasons, I have given a rating of 4/5. However, the positives outweighed the negatives. Firstly, staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool areas were very nice and the sunbeds were incredibly comfy. We were glad that we had the option of 3 pools and the beach! Breakfast was really good, even for picky eaters! There were a selection of pastries (savoury and sweet), meats (cold and cooked), cheeses, eggs, bread, fruit, cereals and yogurts. Oh and Prosecco with breakfast on Sundays! Finally, our flight home wasn’t until midnight so we enquired at reception about a late check out. We were informed that this was possible but we would have to move rooms. So at 11am on our final day, we checked out and moved to another room straight away, no waiting around. This cost €70 and our checkout was at 7pm. This made our last day a lot more enjoyable and comfortable, especially for me as I struggle with some health problems. Overall, we enjoyed our holiday and would stay here again!

A beautiful, clean hotel. Staff friendly and attentive, particularly the waiting staff. Pool lovely but sun beds at a premium as people reserved them early. Private beach area cleaned daily - plenty of sun beds here. Food satisfactory but a lot of it. A fantastic stay.

This is our second visit to the Atlantica Amalthia Beach Hotel and certainly won't be our last. We booked two rooms B & B with the hotel and to our surprise were located in the same rooms we stayed in the year before. The hotel staff work so hard and always make sure that you are being looked after. Andreas in the restaurant/bar always looked after us and went above and beyond every time to ensure our experience was enjoyable. He even recognised us from the year before and personally welcomed us back to the hotel, which I felt was a lovely touch. I find it difficult to remember the other staff members' names, but I couldn't commend them all enough. In regards to the staffing, it did seem like the hotel were short staffed on some occasions, especially with the beach service, but this was hardly a big issue for us personally as we often just used the bar if we wanted to order a drink. We were also aware of the religious holiday that takes place on 15th August. The hotel do offer some excellent food & we dined a couple of nights in the hotel, but if you are feeling adventurous or are just looking for something different, the surrounding Platanias and Agia Marina area offer some very nice places to eat out at; I would recommend Alteri Taverna or Petra. If you require a chilled out, hassle-free holiday with a little sightseeing then this is the hotel for you. It offers a good location with lots of local convenience shops, restaurants and cafes nearby and is situated exactly 20 minutes away from Chania depending on traffic. I would however mention that the hotel next door does play some very loud dance music, which even carried on into the early hours on one occasion, but again this didn't bother us. I would also like to give a special mention to Fotini Arvelaki in the reservations department who offered a personal touch and ensured our trip went smoothly and hassle-free even before we arrived at the hotel.
