The hotel is very plain from the outside and the parking lot has an aged vibe to it, but isn't too bad. There's a weird little construction with a bench in it and it gathered strange characters throughout our stay, but there was never any trouble.
The lobby and hallways have a musty, weed-like smell, which fortunately doesn't seem to make it into the rooms. This hotel would do well to rip up the carpet in the halls and replace it with tile or something, since no doubt that smell is held within the carpet/pad.
The hotel seems to have at one point been under renovations... But I think they gave up. Everything here feels unfinished. The breakfast area was full of overturned and spent looking furniture. There was no breakfast available to my knowledge, but the staff did eat in there once.
The doors in our room were crooked and didn't close properly and dragged on the floor. The door to the room closed and locked fine, which is all that is absolutely necessary. The kitchen came stocked with silverware and dishes, but they were all dirty. I had to wash them by hand because the dishwasher door was stuck closed thanks to the countertop being installed crooked.
Room AC was great and the TVs were good. Comfy bed. Bathroom was good at first glance but the baseboard under the sink was mysteriously missing. We spotted five roaches during our stay which is a new high score, breaking our previous best of zero.
If I had paid any more for the room I'd feel ripped off, basically.
