Boreland Loch Tay

We stayed in the Cabin over New Year for a few nights. The scenery speaks for itself and is stunning but thats where it ends. The Cabin looks stunning in the website pictures but in reality is tired, dirty and needs totally updated. The 2 bathrooms were like ice boxes and with it being Dec/Jan in Scotland temperatures constantly below zero was a nightmare when needing to use the bathrooms, no heating in either, no towel heater to dry towels and one had a constant leak coming through the ceiling from the rain , when we called the help number about thins we were met with a dont care attitude. They did come to the cabin later that day with extra bottles of prosecco but no resolution in fixing the water coming through the ceiling and no one came at all the whole time we stayed. The cabin also has an outdoor kitchen, it does state this in the description but it is fully out doors, again no heating in the kitchen. Due to it being outdoors we also had all the bugs and birds coming in to the kitchen, we constantly woke up to bird poo on the kitchen surfaces and slugs on the floor. We could not use the kettle when any other devices were on in the kitchen as the electricity constantly tripped when we did. Each bedroom only had a small electric heater which was pre set and could not be changed so again the bedrooms were cold. Only room that ever had any heat was the main living room area due to the log burner if we did not have this in again this room was freezing. This place does have the potential to be amazing but needs a full update and deep clean. The layout of the Cabin also needs re thought the outdoor kitchen just doesnt work and also the bathrooms need totally re done. Sadly we would not return to Boreland due to this experience and the 2 stars are based purely on the scenery.

As a holiday let property housekeeper I was extremely let down by the cleanliness or should I say lack of !! The room had not been cleaned since last guests the only thing that was done was the bed had been changed and fresh towels laid out. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting I had to clean the floor as my feet were getting dirty which is shocking . The place was thick with dust and there was spilled coffee on the lamp which would have taken the cleaner a second to wipe . The place is tired and shabby and needs a lot of deep cleaning and refurbishment to bring it up to a decent standard.

Really mixed feelings about this place. There were a few issues beforehand in getting the arrival information, however after I got in touch I had felt really excited that it had been sorted. The location is amazing and we had a lovely view. The bedding was all fresh but the lodge itself is tired and grimy in areas. I had tried to speak to the staff at the end of the stay to feedback but after two emails and no responses at all I thought a review was needed. It feels like they are depending on the view and setting to make it a memorable stay rather than the lodges themselves. The bed was uncomfortable, there were stains on the sofa and grime in the corners. The plates and pans were dirty and we couldn’t use the bbq as it was so dirty. The shower leaked and the main bathroom smelt of sewage. Sadly we wouldn’t return. Such a shame as it’s lots of little things that could easily be overcome. The most frustrating of all is the lack of customer service after they have your money. Feel very let down.

Not quite what I expected. We stayed in the long house and it was that - long. Big long corridor with bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen coming off it and outdoor area. Strange lay out, didn’t feel homely and welcoming. It felt quite disjointed and very much like a hostel. Even had two separate bathrooms for male and female. It was clean however and kitchen has lots of cooking utensils. When we arrived there was no fridge! We had to phone reception and they ended up delivering one quite promptly. Bizarre. The smoke alarm also went off while we were cooking breakfast, we phoned reception and they took 30minutes to come to switch it off. Meanwhile we had to sit eating our breakfast listening to the piercing sound of the alarm. Not enjoyable, The location is nice, however we couldn’t enjoy any of the views from our accommodation as the windows that we had mainly looked onto another building. Some of the other accommodation looked better than ours. I would recommend if you are staying at Boreland consider the other properties before this one.

Six of us went to Boreland Loch Tay for 2 nights and we stayed in Ben Cruachan. The lodge was spotless and well maintained. The hot tub was on when we arrived and we used it a couple of times. I have no negatives about the place, the views are amazing and the staff we met were all friendly. I would recommend a visit and we are already planning a return visit. We also took 2 dogs with us and there are plenty of walks for them. We visited a local restaurant and the dogs were allowed into the bar area, the food here was lovely.

Terrible is an understatement for the service and accommodation here. We arrived and was shown sub standard accommodation without the hot tub we had booked. We expressed our concerns and a member of staff left us to try to find us an alternative lodge. He didn’t come back and when we went to look for staff to help us there was no one there. Repeated phone calls went unanswered and we packed up and left. We have been unable to contact anyone from Boreland to get our money back.
