Prima notte in Kenia e lodge decisamente buono. Camere spaziose dotate anche di caminetto e boule. Cena e colazione decisamente buone abbiamo trovato scelta, qualita' e gentilezza del personale. Sicuramente un buon posto.

Il posto è splendido, in mezzo alla foresta , paesaggio così diverso dai parchi Samburu e Nakuru. Non ho capito se gli animali si avvicinano alla pozza solo per bere o se sono invogliati anche da aiuti alimentari. È noto, invece, che ogni giorno viene sparso sale per gli animali attorno alla pozza. Sicuramente l'osservazione delle 5 del pomeriggio degli uccelli è fatta mettendo cibo (frutta, riso, ecc) su un apposito vassoio appeso a metà del ponte di legno di accesso al lodge. Cena buffet buona. Bella sala con camino acceso e nel letto lo scaldino. Colazione pessima: incentrata solo sul salato. No yogurt, cornetti e pain raisin immangiabili, le scatolette delle marmellate tutte impiastrate, caffè che sembra tè, frutta molto scarsa, macchina per tostare il pane che funziona male. Comunque sia il posto è affascinante e il punto di osservazione incredibile, ampio, vario ( sia aperto che chiuso) e ben organizzato. Il che fa passare sopra a stanze microscopiche (nella c9 la porta del bagno non si apre perchè sbatte sul letto, probabilmente era una unica stanza con la c8, oggi divisa da una parete in cartongesso), piene di spifferi, e asciugamani consunti (ma ci sono gli accappatoi). Posto da non mancare, 1 notte è sufficiente. Sono stata incerta se assegnare 1 o 5 stelle. Come detto in un'altra recensione non posso valutare completamente con il dato di costo, perchè il mio soggiorno faceva parte di un pacchetto.

Immerso nella natura nel parco/foresta di Aberdare. La struttura è molto naturalistica tutta di legno . Ha delle vetrate enormi da cui vedere gli animali che si abbeverano vicino ad un laghetto. La notte tantissimi animali che si avvicinano e possono essere visti dalle vetrate è da appostamenti in pietra. Abbiamo visto anche il leopardo sull’ albero, scimmiette bianche e tantissimi altri animali. Ha un bellissimo camino. Dove riscaldarsi la sera, belle docce calde, letti forniti di borse dell’acqua calda. Si mangia benissimo. È una vera arca di Noe circa a 2000 m.

My wife and I spent a night at The Ark Lodge in Aberdare National Park, and it was an extraordinary experience. The highlight was definitely being able to watch wildlife, especially elephants, come up close to drink water, offering us a front-row seat to a natural spectacle. The accommodations at the lodge were cozy and welcoming. The food was delightful, but it was the tranquil moments spent at the lodge's bar, taking in the stunning views of the surrounding nature, that truly made a memorable impact on us.

A wonderful and unique experience. The rooms are small but the hospitality is excellent. We were able to see so many beautiful animals. Food was absolutely delicious and Stephen is very knowledgeable about the Ark and the surrounding areas.

lace Why go on a game drive when the animals come to you. The 4 levels of balcony (check out the bunker) all facing the man-made watering hole, which attracts close-up elephants, water buffalos, hyenas, and warthogs You can also see their bird feeding time and perhaps a genet and mongoose or two. Night time your room has a buzzer which you can turn on or off to be notified of any animals approaching. We got to see the animals clearly in the afternoon but heard no ringing in the night. A few eager people in our group decided to stay up all night in anticipation for front row seats. One side of the rooms faces the trees while the other (better) side you may see the animals come in. The rooms here are smaller and more rustic.

If we could give 3.5 we would. Stayed our first night on safari and experience may have been affected through being so tired . However the room was very , and I mean very , small in comparison to subsequent experiences. The shower leaked all over the floor and the only power socket was behind the bed and very inaccessible. No air con or fan , and lots of noise from other rooms. The main building is on 4 levels and we were lucky enough to see an elephant on arrival and a genet wild cat later at night. Also lots of birds, bucks and buffalo but nothing really exotic. The buzzer did not go off in the night (luck of the draw). Bar was nice and prices reasonable, food was ok both at dinner and breakfast and service ( as was the service throughout Kenya). Would suggest one night is definitely enough.

Checked in on the 23rd December 2023. The lodge is beautiful and located in the Aberdare's National Park. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The meals are delicious with a wide spread of both Vegetarian and Non vegetarian cusine. All the staffs are welcoming and friendly.

We loved our 2 days at The Arc. We went on a day safari and saw many animals and several very satisfying waterfalls. The food was excellent. A nice bar. And the evening lecture by Stephen on the theme of elephants was interesting and well done. We also loved the hot water-bottles in our bed at night!
