The Elms Hotel & Spa

Having not been here before and not knowing what to expect I was very pleased with my spa experience today. The decor and spa facilities are excellent with lovely treatments. We also had drinks and dinner. I feel I have to mention Marsiano ( excuse me if spelt incorrectly) I think was his name. He really went out his way to ask me how my day was and if everything had been okay. He served me drinks at the bar and because I was unsure what wine to have he poured a few for me to taste! Nothing was too much trouble and he really made me feel welcome! I received excellent customer service from him and would like to thank him for this. Highly recommended and I would definitely come back.

The hot tub wasn't working . Was put in the wrong room . Pool was cold , team said it would warm up ..two days later still cold . Sauna and stream cold. Gin was serviced in the wrong glass. Food on the dinner menu was awful, small potions and fatty . Steak wasn't cooked right ,no tabel check . When paying the bill I was over charged still waiting for the refund . I've been twice before and it was amazing, however this time I was glad to leave .

its difficult to explain how bad my experience actually was. I have been a customer of the Elms since it changed ownership a few years back. As I live locally it has always been a go to for food and a nice comfortable bar. However tonight, 7.30 friday 31st oct, I went for a drink and a small bite in the bar. The person behind was the most off putting, unfriendly server I have ever had the displeasure to experience. I ordered two drinks, and something to eat, bearing in mind there was no one else to be served, said aerver finished the drink they were making for a diner, took them and came back behind the bar. Faffed about for 5 minutes doing absolutely nothing, left the bar to never return. I sat there for about 20 minutes in total before deciding this is not how I am going to be treated so I got up and left. more fool me as this was the third time this same person has delivered an appalling level of customer care to me, not to mention any other guest. you live and learn, sometimes people are having a bad day, or other things going on, however this occasion means I will not be returning unless there is a change of approach to service delivery in the Elms.

We came here for a hen do. The grounds are absolutely stunning. We each got a 30 minute treatment included in our day and the facial was amazing. Free tea/coffee/hot chocolate/water and squash available all day. Steam and sauna fabulous. Pool nice size, particular highlight was the outdoor jacuzzi. Afternoon tea was also stunning and we were allowed iced coffee instead of tea which was great. Highly recommend!

Refers to a very enjoyable dinner. Wow this place has changed but the somewhat funky decor in a Queen Anne mansion does work! Full and rightly so on a Monday evening because of a lively vibe, warm service and imaginative dishes from a short menu. Delivered well on the plate and priced appropriately: good to see it doing well

Just got back from a weekend of staying here for my birthday. Was a lovely weekend and so so so relaxing. The place is gorgeous ! The decor is really well done and the whole hotel is stunning. Only thing that let it down was the room as it was very tired looking (I.e missing paint on walls, damaged furniture and mould on windows). Also, there wasn’t many chairs next to the pool. My partner and I got the last chairs available at the time but couples were turning up after us with no where to sit so I can imagine this being quite frustrating if you’re left with no seat. But other than that it was lovely. Staff were also very friendly and breakfast was nice (had a continental table with fruit/ cereal/ pastry’s and a menu with your typical English breakfast / eggs Benedict etc) Overall, we had a lovely time, but not sure if I’d return to stay over night with the price tag, as I’d expect the room to be a bit of a higher standard. I’d definitely return for a treatment though :)
