We stayed at the Riccarton Inn for three nights in July as we were attending a wedding at the nearby Free Company.  After originally booking a city centre hotel we decided to look at something a little closer and found The Riccarton which looked to be nearby, with nice rooms and at a good price. Before booking we contacted the venue via FaceBook to see if there were any room suggestions and we were told that rooms 1, 2 & 5 are double rooms but they suggested room 1 as the best pick out of the three if it was available…… it was, so we booked it. Getting to the venue was relatively easy, it was a 15 ish minute walk from Currie Hill train station although the majority was uphill so probably not the best route to take if you have reduced mobility.  There is a bus stop just over the road from the venue and if you catch the 44 from the city centre it drops you right there (the bus stop right outside the venue, i.e. on the same side of the road, takes you back into the centre on the 44 bus.  Buses are easy with TapTapCap so you can use your debit / credit card or device (always use the same card or device to make sure the cap applies).  A single journey is £1.80 and it caps at £4.40 for a full days travel.  We said that the next time we stay at the venue we’d definitely finish our journey on the bus instead of the train.  Oh, the venue is also on the N44 route which is the night bus service, ideal if you go out for a few drinks and it saves on taxis.  There are a few different local taxi services as well as Uber, the couple of times we used a taxi we did use Uber in the end as they were actually cheaper and we found them a little more reliable. Check in was really simple, we didn’t prepay but the cost of the room was charged to the card we booked with on the morning before we arrived.  All we needed to do was pop a signature onto the booking confirmation at the bar and we were handed our keys, one for the main door to the venue (it gets locked at midnight so you can let yourself in) and one to the room.  We didn’t pre-request breakfast but we decided to add it on for two of the mornings and paid for it at the bar…….. I would highly recommend the breakfast, at £8.95 per person it is most definitely worth it (more on that later). The room itself (room 1) was a decent size, it had a very comfortable bed, a built-in closet and plenty of drawer space.  The en-suite bathroom had a good size bath with over bath power shower, toilet and wash basin… again all spotlessly clean.  The towels were really fluffy and properly dried you instead of just moving the water around which is always a good plus.  At night the room did get a little warm but as long as you don’t mind your window open and you leave the bathroom door and window open you do cool down a little.  There are tea/coffee making facilities in the room and a hairdryer is also provided.  The WiFi code is provided on a welcome card which we found in one of the drawers in the desk. La stanza è grande, puoi comprare acqua e cibo da Tesco dall'altra parte della strada e il pasto fisso KFC dall'altra parte della strada costa circa 8 sterline. Camminando 100 metri verso est c'è il tram. Il biglietto giornaliero costa 5 sterline e il biglietto di sola andata costa 2 sterline. Puoi acquistarlo strisciando una carta di credito o inserendo una carta. Andare all'aeroporto è leggermente più costoso, costa 7,5 sterline solo andata, indipendentemente dalla distanza. Proprio come all'Ibis Novotel di Londra, non è possibile lavare i panni, ma solo consegnarli al fattorino della lavanderia APP per ritirarli. Questa impostazione è davvero strana. Faccio ancora lavare i miei vestiti all'Hilton. Edimburgo non è grande e praticamente puoi visitarla in un giorno. Scendi a Princes Street e visita il National Museum and Art Gallery of Scotland e il Museum of Modern Art. Il resto dei punti di riferimento sono tutti insieme e puoi praticamente passeggiare loro C'è l'India vicino alla Biblioteca Nazionale, ristoranti italiani e cinesi del Sichuan. Un singolo ordine costa circa 12 sterline.

I am shocked to see the hotel with a 4-star rating on here. Everything about our experience was brilliant. We visited the hotel towards the end of March for a friends wedding. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, the drive in, the main reception building, the function room. A really special place to tie the knot. I think I can speak for most of the wedding party in saying the service was absolutely brilliant. All the staff were so attentive and really went above and beyond in catering to everybody’s needs. A special mention to Sofie and Johanna who were tending the bar. They really outdid themselves, professional and extremely pleasant throughout. I can’t imagine how hard it must be dealing with so many merry party goes but they did it with a smile and really went the extra mile and helped to make it a really great day. But thank you to everyone at the Dalmahoy, it was an amazing day.

In generale, tutto era bene. Tuttavia, durante il nostro soggiorno abbiamo incontrato qualche problema. La stanza aveva un odore notabile. Grazie al suo albergo, il personale ci ha permesso di trasferirci in un altro. Le opzioni per il colazione erano limitate, ma considerando il prezzo di bilancio, queste questioni erano accettabili.

This hotel bears no relation to the previous Edinburgh Marriot it may have a new carpet and paint but it's a disappointing experience , the staff lack experience and customer focus many of the customer service have been deleted . We booked a suite the TV would not accommodate a firestick to watch Netflix and the bathroom was shabby and the room could do with a proper clean bathrobes supposedly supplied were missing when we complained we were given one grubby replacement instead of two . Breakfast was fine and a good choice was available, we stayed frequently at the Edinburgh Marriot and sadly we will not return as Delta have obviously cut costs and deleted the customer focus that made you forget about the rough edges .

Eravamo molto soddisfatti della Torfina. L'iscrizione era facile. Anche se non c'era un ufficio di fronte, la giovane donna al bar era disponibile per registrarmi e mostrarmi la stanza. Ha portato anche due delle nostre valigie fino alla nostra stanza! La stanza era molto piacevole e recentemente ristrutturata. Non credo che ci sia alcuna A/C, e questo potrebbe essere un problema occasionale. Ci siamo sentiti comodi nonostante il clima insolito caldo. La mia unica denuncia sarebbe la mancanza di un ascensore, poiché abbiamo avuto molti bagagli. Fortunatamente le camere sono solo un volo. Ci sono parcheggi in strada complimentari presso l'edificio adiacente. Il prezzo è molto ragionevole, soprattutto se prenotato direttamente con l'hotel. È vicino all'aeroporto, che richiede circa 8 min. per auto. Il servizio è limitato, poiché il ristorante (e quindi l'hotel) si chiude alle 10 e non si riapre fino alle 10:00. Il colazione non è disponibile prima delle 10:00.

It’s an excellent and most Memorable one in the hotel, the service was awesome, the meal was fantastic, the gym, pool and all experience was one of a kind, we met with Joan the pool tutor she even taught us how to swim💃💃❤️❤️. I will recommend here over and over again. We actually did not know we can use the hotel to have a discount at the zoo. Next time we will read more about it all. A very lovely views also in the room 💃💕💕 Thank you Holiday inn 😍😍😍🥰❤️❤️❤️
