Anhui, Cina: hotel per famiglie

Our stay at the J. Mountain hotel was beyond our wildest dreams. I rarely leave reviews but our 3 nights here were so stunningly exceptional that we felt driven to express our gratitude and appreciation for the stellar staff, service, and beautiful setting of this hidden gem of a hotel. The service was without exception some of the best if not the best I have ever experienced at a hotel, and I travel often, having visited over 20 countries in the last few years alone and stayed at many beautiful and well-known five-star hotels and brands. Despite being a very young hotel (having just opened in September) J. Mountain Hotel holds its own and then some. It began months before our stay when we reached out to the hotel on WeChat to ask for guidance on equipment, tickets, and transportation. As we are visiting from America the area isn’t necessarily the easiest to access or plan for. Responses were almost immediate no matter when we reached out and always went above and beyond. For instance, my mother is nearly 70 and although very active was worried about slipping and falling while hiking in icier conditions; they offered to even purchase crampons for us should we wish although they advised us we would not need them for the time of year we were here (they were right). While here their thoughtfulness included texting us updates on and warning us about inclement weather while we were hiking around Huang Shan (there is cell service), drying and fluffing our wet gear when we returned from a particularly wet hike, and most astounding of all resolving an incredibly stressful issue we had with an upcoming flight that had been canceled (they suggested and secured alternative means of transport to a second city and then arranged for a different flight with the airline directly). We must specifically give our thanks to Hotel Manager Ryan, who is young but clearly extremely talented and excels in his role. He not only oversaw and proactively sought to help us on every front but was responsible for resolving our flight emergency. He also clearly had directed staff to help us to their utmost ability at all times, including having breakfast and dinner ready for and served to us at the times we requested. Ryan also personally met us and gave us a tour of the hotel and its history and design, as well as accompanied us to the art gallery and an evening tea tasting held in the gorgeous tea house on the grounds. He checked in with us every day and night and made sure everything was to our liking. Driver Wang Kai was our personal chauffer throughout the stay and was extremely courteous, professional, and attentive; he was always there to pick us up and see us off at multiple locations throughout our trip and not once were we ever allowed to wait. He even brought us hotel slippers and large down jackets to change into out of our soaking wet gear when picking us up at the end of a hike. When we said we did not think we would need some of the gear they offer their guests, we noticed he packed it in the car just in case we changed our minds and needed them later. I could literally go on and on but wanted to make sure I left room to appreciate how beautiful the hotel itself is and how much attention to detail has gone into its design and planning; at almost every turn we discovered something that added to the ease, enjoyment, and comfort of our stay. J. Mountain Hotel, thank you for one of the best experiences we have had in many, many years.

Consiglio vivamente questo hotel in cima alla montagna, la posizione è eccellente. Ci vogliono solo quindici minuti a piedi per raggiungere il picco di Guangming, da dove abbiamo potuto ammirare il mare di nuvole e il tramonto. Aprendo la finestra si gode di una vista mozzafiato su pini singolari, rocce dalle forme strane e nuvole di montagna. La camera era pulita e asciutta, ben oltre le mie aspettative; pensavo che le condizioni in montagna sarebbero state difficili, invece abbiamo alloggiato benissimo e, stanchi dalla scalata, ci si poteva rilassare subito. L'hotel ha gentilmente fornito gratuitamente cappotti termici e bustine di artemisia per pediluvi, l'acqua calda era abbondante e i servizi igienici completi. Il personale è stato attento e premuroso, informandoci proattivamente sull'ora dell'alba e sui percorsi escursionistici, e ci ha persino ricordato a che ora impostare la sveglia per non perderci l'alba. Soggiornare in cima alla montagna evita di dover tornare a valle, il che è perfetto per un viaggio di due giorni. È adatto sia per il relax e la vista che per le escursioni. La prossima volta che verrò sui monti Huangshan, sceglierò di nuovo questo posto.

Should hunger strike at other times, the owner’s willingness to arrange delivery food throughout the day or evening - though at a small additional cost - ensures you're never far from a delicious meal. That said, the house's prime location leaves you enveloped by a plethora of local restaurants, offering culinary adventures that are just a stone’s throw away. Within this ancient village, entertainment options abound. From traditional shows that bring the local culture to life to leisurely walks through historical lanes, there’s no shortage of activities to enrich your stay. Each bedroom is a haven in its own right, complete with a luxurious bath that offers the perfect retreat after a day of exploration and enjoyment. What truly sets Lily’s House apart, however, is the owner’s unparalleled dedication to guest satisfaction. His genuine care was exemplified by arranging a delightful Western-style breakfast for us, going above and beyond to meet our needs. This rare level of service imbues your stay with a warmth and welcome that genuinely feels like a ”home away from home.” Lily’s House is a hidden gem in Wuhu, a place that captures the heart and guarantees that you’ll leave with a treasure trove of memories. I eagerly anticipate returning to this delightful retreat, thankful for such an incredible experience.

My stay at Luming Valley Hotspring Holidays B&B exceeded every expectation from the moment we drove up the hill. My husband and I stayed in the Mountainscape Terrace Mountain View Suite, which genuinely felt like a 5‑star hotel room. It was spotless, beautifully furnished, and equipped with an incredibly comfortable bed, a fully stocked mini fridge, and a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The smart controls operated by “Xiao Bao” were a fun and convenient touch. We were completely blown away and honestly wished we could have stayed in the room forever. Even before our arrival, the staff communicated with us via WeChat to ensure everything went smoothly. We were able to speak with an English‑speaking staff member who took care of every detail for us—booking the hot springs, arranging breakfast, dinner, and afternoon tea, and even offering to help us get to the train station on our last day. Their attentiveness went far beyond anything we’ve experienced at other hotels. We were even given a thoughtful bag of gifts upon departure. Because the hotel is quite isolated, we ate all our meals on-site. The cuisine is Chinese, which isn’t usually my preference, but everything was delicious, freshly prepared, and presented with great care. A standout was the afternoon tea we enjoyed on our second day. We could choose to dine in our room or at the restaurant, which was perfect depending on how we felt each day. The highlight of our stay was definitely the hot springs. There are four in total, and we used the two located higher on the hill, which offered an incredible view—even on a cloudy day. The temperature was perfect, and everything was exceptionally clean. The staff assured us that each pool is drained and refilled after every use, which gave us great peace of mind. Soaking in the hot springs in the heart of winter, surrounded by Huangshan’s beautiful mountains, was an unforgettable experience. The hotel is about an hour from both Huangshanxi and Huangshanbei stations and easily reachable by car or Didi. Due to the weather, we didn’t visit the mountain scenic area, but the staff were more than willing to help us plan if we wanted to explore the surroundings. This was truly a 10/10 stay. The staff make you feel like you’re the only guests there with their warmth and attentiveness. The design and architecture are stunning, and the hotel even smells amazing. I have absolutely no complaints and would rank this among the best hotels I’ve stayed at anywhere in the world. It’s a perfect romantic getaway, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful escape. I can’t wait to return!

Il servizio è stato eccellente; dal personale addetto all'accoglienza a quello della reception, tutti si sono sentiti come a casa. Anche la colazione era abbondante. Quando ci sono andato, non c'era molta gente e il personale della reception mi ha aiutato a ottenere un upgrade, ma si trattava di una camera esposta a nord. Il principale svantaggio era che le camere esposte a nord avevano un forte odore di muffa. La camera era molto pulita e ci hanno persino fornito un pigiama e un diffusore di aromi particolare. La posizione è davvero ottima. Il personale ha accennato a dei lavori di ristrutturazione previsti per il prossimo settembre. L'hotel offre un servizio di massaggi ai piedi, ma il cartello non era molto visibile; l'ho notato solo in camera, dopo aver terminato il massaggio all'esterno.

La stanza era spaziosa e confortevole, anche se il suono di pareti, porte e finestre non era sufficiente per prevenire il rumore dai vicini o strada e strada anche al 40° piano. Highly recommend this home stay for first night of a Huangshan mountain weekend adventure. Pros: very clean, comfortable bed and linens, good shower pressure. The host was very welcoming and considerate -in the morning, offered to drive me to the nearby transfer bus station from Tangkou to Huangshan Yungu cable car. Breakfast was simple but good -warm noodles with fried eggs. I travelled solo but noticed several of the rooms look perfect for families. I’ll share a few notes regarding visiting Huangshan: 1) easy 2 night weekend from Shanghai. I took high speed train at 5pm Friday, arrived Huangshan station around 8 pm. It’s a roughly 1 hr taxi or Didi ride to Tangkou area. This home stay is ~1 km outside of Tangkou tourist center (which I liked, more peaceful). 2) All entry into Huangshan scenic area must be via park bus (ie can not taxi directly to cable car station). As mentioned, host offered to drive to bus station which was very nice. 3) I find China loves complicated ticketing and queuing systems -this didn’t disappoint . At the bus station, you go to a booth to make a reservation for park entry. Then, another booths for cable car. After queuing and riding cable car, you buy another ticket, using reservation, at top of mountain for park entry. Good news, many of the counter staff in Huangshan speak English. 3) For second night, I stayed in park at Paiyun (good, will review separately). Paiyun, Xihai, and Beihai are all just minutes apart. All three appear of similar quality and service and are in great central location for hiking. 4) On Sunday morning, rose at 5:00 to view 5:40 sunrise at viewing platform just behind and up the hill from Paiyun (10 min climb). I was surprised at the number of early risers gathered. Breakfast at 6:30, returned to Yungu cable car for a solo ride back to bus. Bus to Tangkou. Taxi to Huangshan north station. Easily was able to make a 10:30 am departure for Shanghai, arriving at 1 pm. 5) this may sound like a short trip but it afforded climbing every peak and vista on the East side of Huangshan on Saturday at a fairly leisurely pace. Hope these random notes help! Huangshan is beautiful, worth the trip, and if you can manage climbing lots of steps it is easy to navigate. Cheers!
