Abbiamo scelto il Shazhou Wild Luxury Camp a Dunhuang, situato in un angolo del Monte Mingsha, con un'ampia vista privata sul deserto. È stata un'esperienza fantastica. A differenza della folla al sito panoramico del Lago della Mezzaluna, qui regna la pace e la tranquillità. La sera, potevamo giocare a carte sul balcone all'ombra, ammirare il tramonto e poi l'alba al mattino. Di notte, potevamo uscire in qualsiasi momento per guardare le stelle e la Via Lattea. È stata un'esperienza davvero diversa e la consiglio vivamente! Ho due piccoli suggerimenti: 1. Consigliate alcuni percorsi e posizioni per lo sandboarding. I bambini correvano con le loro tavole per la sabbia e su alcune dune non riuscivano a scivolare, sprecando molta energia e tempo. 2. Non sarebbe possibile installare una scala di corda, come al Lago della Mezzaluna, sul tratto che porta alla duna più alta? Sarebbe molto più facile salire. Altrimenti, le donne e i bambini del nostro gruppo non riescono ad arrampicarsi, ed è un peccato perdere una vista così bella.

Nuovo hotel, strutture pulite, letto grande, biancheria da letto e cuscini molto comodi, servizi igienici e doccia molto buoni, acqua grande e calda. Il servizio è stato eccellente, il personale è stato molto accogliente e professionale, il che ha superato le aspettative di un hotel di questo livello in città. La colazione era un po' semplice. Le strade di Zhangye sono relativamente pulite, la gente del posto è ospitale e calorosa ed è una città molto interessante dal punto di vista turistico. La conformazione del terreno di Danxia è davvero magnifica! Il Tempio Mati e il Tempio del Grande Buddha meritano sicuramente una visita.

Although they did not speak English, they consistently made the effort to use translation tools to communicate with us and assist us in the best possible way, which we truly appreciated. The hotel was almost empty. The first breakfast took place in a huge dining area where we were the only guests, which meant the variety was quite limited. There was some Chinese food and a coffee machine, but there were no options commonly expected by international travelers, such as fruit, cereals, yogurt, or bread. That same day, we were informed that the rest of the breakfasts would be delivered directly to our room. The staff made a continuous effort to ensure we felt comfortable with this arrangement, confirming the delivery time with us each day. The room was spacious and comfortable. However, the cleanliness did not match the hotel’s level and price: the carpet had visible stains, and finding a toothpick at the entrance made it clear that cleaning standards were not adequate. In addition, the amount of shampoo and soap provided was extremely limited—again, not consistent with the quality one would expect given the building and overall appearance of the hotel. We were not impressed, especially for the price. We've stayed at hotels that are similarly priced and expected much better. To be fair, the hotel itself is beautiful. The architecture, the room interiors, and the breakfast and drinks to get were all very nice. However, the problems started at arrival. We were told the afternoon tea was cancelled and the restaurant was fully booked because of an event. No one told us this in advance, which was very disappointing. The check-in was disorganized. The receptionist (who was also the manager) turned away to help someone else while I was still talking to her. She didn't give us our room keys, saying the bell boy would open the door. But when we got to the room, the bell boy had to walk all the way back to get the keys. The bell boys were actually very friendly and helpful—the only good part. To make things stranger, the female manager called me a few hours after we checked out. She asked how the event affected our stay. I was busy and rushing around, and the call worried me—I thought I had left something behind. Asking for our opinion after we left was too late. They should have asked us during our stay, or better yet, informed us before we even arrived. So, while the place is beautiful, the poor communication and service ruined the experience. We wouldn't stay here again for the price.
